The term usually relates to materials produced by human activity, and the process is generally undertaken to reduce their effect on health, the environment or aesthetics. Waste management is a distinct practice from resource recovery which focuses on delaying the rate of consumption of natural resources.

Pick up free characterized waste tags, containers, and guidelines from the prescribed locations: Ensure that containers holding hazardous wastes are compatible with wastes, and are in good condition, do not leak, and are closed when wastes are not being added or removed. Mark containers with the words “Hazardous Waste.”

When the container is full

Once the container is full, complete a characterized waste tag, specifying the contents, and attach to the waste container. Limit accumulation of waste to the amount. mentioned on the container
