PRESIDENT ALAN’S APPETISERS AstheyearmovesonquicklywehavealotgoingonintheClubwhichispleasingbutalsochallenging.DuringtheweekwereceivedarequestfromDistricttoconfirmnumbersandnamesofthoseattendingheDistrictAGM(Nov11).ThedetailshavebeenpostedintheBulletinoverthepastmonthandanymembersintendingtoattendandwhohavenotindicatedsotoourSecretarypleasedosoatMondaynight’smeetingorbefore.

ThatweekendislookingbusywiththeClubcommittedtosupportingtheworkoftheBairnsdaleShowCommitteeby‘manning’anEntryGateontheday–Saturday,November10.OurrosterwillbeconfirmedonMondayevening.Wewillberunninga‘goldcointin’toraisemoneyforlocaldisasterreliefandIhavenodoubtitwillbewellsupported.ThisisagreatopportunitytoflytheRotaryFlagin‘DoingGoodintheCommunity’.

JBhasbeenworkinghardcoordinatingtheCharityDinnerAuctionandisverypleasedwiththeresponsefromlocalbusinesseswhocontinuetosupportourwork.ItisgoodtoseethosesponsorsbeingdisplayedonourClubwebsiteinacknowledgementoftheirsupport.

SecretaryMichaeltellsmehehasafew‘administrative’taskstobecompletedoverthenextcoupleofweeks–memberdetailsupdateandChildProtectioncomplianceheadthelist.Neitherareonerousbutrequireregularreviewandhewilltakeafewminutesatupcomingmeetings.

Thecombined‘Bairnsdale’Club’sfilmnightthiswasverysuccessfulasafundraiserfortheEndPolioproject…enjoyedthemusicandtheopportunityforfellowship.Itisalwayspleasingwhenweworktogetherinsupportofacommoncause.

WeallacknowledgedwhatagreatjobMichaelisdoingwiththewebsiteandinvitedmemberstomakecontributionstothepage…andtheBulletin.

WewelcomedRossbacktoourmeetingforthesecondtime,sowemayhaveanewmemberinthefuture.

PresidentAlanconfirmedthat$1000hasgonetoPDGCharlie’sSkyHydrantfund.

BerniereportedofthesuccessoftheYouthInsearchGalanight.Theyouthwhowaitedonthetableswerepraisedbyallandtheyshouldbeproudofthegreatjobthattheydid.Thankyoutothem,thecommittee,theSponsor'sandeveryonewhoattended.Agreatnightwashadbyall.Thefeedbackgivenisappreciatedandwilldefinitelybetakenonboardtomakenextyear'sGalaeventbiggerandbetterandevenmoreenjoyable.

DarrenaskedthatifyouhaveunsoldorunpaidmovieticketsforThursdaynightthatyoueitherreturnorpayforthem.Itispromisingtobeagreatnightasallticketshavebeensold.Alantoprovidethe3rdraffleprizeandDebbietodoafruitplatterforthenight.

DebHreportedthatLauriewasstilladvocatingforMRRClubandhasaprospectivenewmemberandshewillbefollowingthatup.

Phillipahasfoundtworestaurantsthatarereasonablypricedandwithinwalkingdistanceodtheconferenceandcanbechargedtoaccommodationrooms-Platform28andtheNixonHotelpleasebookASAPforadiscountedprice.

JBislookingforanMCfortheDinnerAuctionnight.NicholsonRiverWineryaredonatingsomewineandNormhasdonatedframedphotographyworth$790.Setuponthedaywillbeginat10.30am.

OurguestspeakerwasJackwhoheadstheBairnsdaleShowCommittee.10thNovemberisthisyear’sshowandJackislookingforvolunteerstomanthegates.Lastyear6500peoplecamethroughthegatessotheygave10000ticketsthisyear.RCMRwillbemanningoneofthegatesfrom7.30amtill3.00pmandMichaelwillcirculatearosterforcompletion.AnydonationstakenfromthegateswillgototheFarmersReliefAidandHayDrive.Nextyeartheshowwillbespreadover2days.Lotsofperformersandservicesareouttoshowcasethemselves.BusDunnyracesareanewinclusionthisyearandwillracedowntheracecoursestraight.Itisyettobedecidedifsomeonewillbesittingonthedunny.Asit's100yearsofarmisticemusicfrom100yearsagowillplaytill11amandthentherewillbeaslowridedownthestraight.Ahugefamilyareaatnocostwillbeprovided.Amotormustershowcasingjotrods,HarleyDavidsonEasyRidersandClassicCarsisanotherattraction;aswellastheusualfarmmachinery.TherewillbeahugeCarnivalareasportingmoreridesthantheSaleshowandafireworksdisplay.

MichaelenlightenedusonaproposalfromtheCanterburyRotaryClubaboutapartnershipwithus.ThisistoofferrespitetoourfarmersandtheirfamiliesinMelbourne.LeannefromBairnsdaleNeighbourhoodHouseisverykeentopartnerwithusalso.Leanneandhercrewcurrentlysupport/workwithmanyruralfamiliesandwillfulfillamostimportantidentificationrole.Weneedtobeawarethatiffarmersgoforrespitethattaskssuchasfeedinganimals,milking,generalfarmtasksetc.,stillneedtobeperformed.

AlanreportedthatvendorsareenjoyingthemarketFacebookPageandthe‘quality’messageitisputtingoutthere.ThewindyconditionswereverytestingwithanumberofvendorshavingtopackupearlyItwasimpressivetoseethevendorsandRotariansworkingtogethertoensureeverythingwasresolvedwell.

FollowingtheapproachfromtheRotaryClubofCanterburylastweek,theClubisverykeentotakeuptheirofferandcoordinatea‘Respite’programforlocalruralfamiliesbeingimpactedbynaturaldisasters.Acommitteeofmemberswillnowworkwiththemandlocalagenciestodeveloptheprojectandhowitmaybestbeimplemented.
