FROM: Commissioner William Tudor DATE: April 3, 2018 TITLE: Notification System

Recommendation I would like the Commission to discuss the implementation of a mass/emergency notification system to provide efficient and timely information to Village residents. If a consensus exists that such a system would benefit our residents, I would recommend that the Village Administration review the platforms identified in the attached documents and make a recommendation to the Commission on which platform would best serve the needs of our community. Background The Village has 3000+ residents and many residents have expressed frustration with the level in which the Village communicates with its residents. For example, many residents communicated their displeasure concerning the Village’s flow of information during the recovery from Hurricane Irma. The implementation of a mass/emergency notification system would allow residents to “opt in” and receive timely and critical notifications through multiple communication channels, such as, voice, sms text messaging, e-mail, and social media.
