GENERAL SAFETY INFORMATION

ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSStandard units are shipped for use on 115 volt, 60 hertzsingle phase electric power. The motor nameplate andelectrical rating on the transformer should be checkedbefore energizing the unit heater electrical system. Allexternal wiring must conform to ANSI/NFPA No. 70-1996, National Electrical Code (or the latest edition of)and applicable local codes; in Canada, to the CanadianElectrical Code, Part 1 CSA Standard C22.1.

Do not use any tools (i.e.screwdriver, pliers, etc.) across the terminals tocheck for power. Use a voltmeter.

It is recommended that the electrical power supply toeach unit heater be provided by a separate, fused andpermanently live electric circuit. A disconnect switch ofsuitable electrical rating for each unit heater/ductfurnace should be located as close to the gas valve andcontrols as possible. Each unit heater /duct furnacemust be electrically grounded in accordance withNational Electric Code, ANSI/NFPA no. 70-1996 (or thelatest edition of) or CSA Standard C22.1. Sample wiringconnections are depicted throughout this manual. Thetransformer supplied with this unit heater is internallyfused. Any overload or short circuit will ruin thetransformer.

NOTICE: All installations and electricalconnections must conform to the InstallationInstructions Manual equipped with your unit.

NOTICE: For all electrical connections to yourunit, refer to the wiring diagram that your unit isequipped with (either affixed to the side jacketor enclosed in your unit’s installationinstruction envelope). This manual is forreference only.

THERMOSTAT WIRING AND LOCATION

NOTICE: The thermostat must be mounted on avertical vibration-free surface free from aircurrents and in accordance with the furnishedinstructions.

*Thermostat wires tagged “W” and “G” must beconnected together except when using a generalpurpose “SPDT” 24VAC relay and a standardthermostat with subbase, or when using HoneywellT834H-1009 or T834H-1017 thermostats. Refer to thefollowing diagram.

HAZARDOUS VOLTAGE!DISCONNECT ALL ELECTRICPOWER INCLUDING REMOTEDISCONNECTS BEFORESERVICING. Failure todisconnect power beforeservicing can cause severepersonal injury or death.

FACTORY WIRE CHANGES!CONSULT MANUFACTURER PRIOR TOCHANGING FACTORY WIRING. Incorrect wiringof safety circuits could result in death or fire.

USE COPPER CONDUCTORSONLY! UNIT TERMINALS ARE NOT DESIGNEDTO ACCEPT OTHER TYPES OF CONDUCTORS.Failure to do so may cause damage to the equip-ment.

CONTROL BOX COVER!CONTROL BOX COVER MUST BE IN PLACEWHEN SYSTEM IS OPERATED. Failure to replacecontrol box cover may result in personal injury.

IMPORTANT: Refer to installation and operationmanual for service instructions. Serviceequipment by qualified personnel only.

Install a ground conductor to the ground plugprovided if this unit is supplied by a wiringsystem that in accordance with the NationalElectric Code, requires the installation of anequipment grounding conductor or conductors.

Wiring must be in accordance with applicablecodes or ordinances.
