• The Secretariat Arc walk started from under the Mahogany tree which has been witnessing many events in the city. The group observed a Ficus which has anchored itself in the tree. The sight of the Koovalam with fruits, the Vallavam with its unique growth both in the Secretariat complex and Athi by the AGs office gate attracted the attention of the participants.

• The group of trees growing as a cluster in front of the Cantonment Police Station which has been conserved brought focus on how trees can be maintained as an island. The huge flex boards near the Secretariat Annexe on the footpath obstructing pedestrians turned the discussion to the negligent attitudes to all road users other than vehicle owners.

• The line of Ficus trees, Pongamia trees (Oong) and others growing opposite the Press Club alongside the Stadium wall inspired the participants to talk about how we can plant with a plan. The horrible sight of a burning waste dump by the side of the Stadium wall adjacent to the Sports Council necessitated the need for an intervention into urban waste management scenario.

• The group walked along till the cluster of Ficus trees with the need to observe and come out with a plan that will save the trees from the axe.

• There were 50 participants, including children and there was a free and happy exchange o ideas, thoughts and action plans.
