2. Choose the title
• the title is very important
• the title is the message you want people to remember
• it is also what will attract attention
3. Write the abstract
• the abstract is a way to explain the title
• nowadays the abstract has a different role
• it is usually available on the internet and from the abstract you decide what if you want to read the rest of the paper

Where do you start
• Already you have the references
• Make sure you have a good system to keep them in order
Start with what you have
• If you are starting to write
• You had to do the experiments so you already have
• Material and Method
• write that up
Start with Material &Method
• Write up the section on Material & Method and their references
• check how the references are supposed to be written for that journal
Material
• The material you used
• Hardware name of the company, model number
• Software
• Own equipment or chemical
• Make an extensive list and keep it
Method
• should be explained clearly to enable others to repeat the work
• new method which can be patented
• decide if you want it published
• Can post it to yourself and keep the post mark
Write up the results
• the results tables graphs etc. will be there
Write the introduction
• the introduction is what it is
• To introduce your work and similar work which was done before
• why it is important, why you are doing this work
• i.e. your objective
Introduction/history
• in the introduction you can give references of work that has been done before by you or others that are relevant to this paper
Write the discussion
• Discuss your results
• your results can be discussed here in relation to other results.
• by you or other researchers
• for example the same as, or different from others.
Write the conclusion
• your objective is written in the introduction,
• in the conclusion you show:
• how with your results
• you can come to that conclusion
Acknowledgement
• Acknowledge the people who helped but are not authors and mention the grants
References
• Name of authors
• Journal
• Use the right J. Jour. Med.
