Three-Cents-A-Meal Offering - Sunday, September 15th!
Peace is “a handcrafted product. We make it every day with our work, our life, our love, our closeness, our loving each other.” - Pope Francis
Lebanon County is part of the 9th Congressional District of Pennsylvania. In 2018, over 13% of the District’s population lived below the poverty line. Eighteen percent of the children in our District live in families below the poverty line. For a family of four, the poverty line is a yearly income of less than $25,750. Think about the challenges a family faces when their income is below the poverty line. Think on this...one out of every ten people you meet on the street or in an area store on a daily basis likely lives in poverty. When a family lives on a limited budget, any unexpected expense will take a big toll on the quantity and quality of food available to the family. The Caring Cupboard is our community’s loving way of helping our neighbors obtain the foods needed to nourish and sustain them. Your special offering of three cents for each meal that you and your family members enjoy will help support the mission of the Caring Cupboard. Please set aside a spe-cial container to collect your offerings. A portion of the offering will go to the Caring Cupboard; the rest of the offering will help out other hungry families around our nation and world. - The Outreach Team

The pace will be easy, with time for personal and group reflection along the easy-to-moderate unpaved trails. The trail guide will be Karen Halde-man (spiritual director and friend of Camp Swatara). Registration fee of $30 includes lunch along the trail. Register: www.campswatara.org by September 9

Do you avoid reading the Old Testament because it is too violent? Well, David A. Leiter, the author of the LIFE class's next study, has discovered the message of peace throughout the Old Testament. In addition to writing a book on the topic, he has written our next series, "Peace in Isaiah." You are invited to join us at 10:30 a.m. in the parlor on Sunday mornings, starting August 18 through October 27.
