Dear Parishioners,
We celebrate this weekend, the Feast of Corpus Christi – the Holy Body and Blood of Christ. It is always good to remind ourselves that when we receive Communion we are receiving the real Body and Blood of Christ. When we say “Amen” at Communion time we are saying “I believe” this is the real Body and Blood of Christ.
Next Sunday the Parishioners of Acacia Ridge are celebrating the 50th
Anniversary of the foundation of the Church of Our Lady of Fatima. The Archbishop will be the main celebrant at Mass at 9.00am and all Parishioners of Acacia Ridge and Sunnybank are invited to attend. Following Mass there will be celebrations to commemorate this great milestone in the life of the Parish of Acacia Ridge.
Next Friday is the First Friday of the month and we will celebrate a special Seniors Mass at 10.00am at Sunnybank in the Parish Hall at Paloma. This is also an Anointing Mass for our elderly and sick of both our Parishes. If you would like a lift please call the Parish office and leave a message for our Care and Concern Co-ordinator, Bernadette Christian on 3345 3766.
Normally on the first Saturday of the month the men of our Parishes get together for the Men's Breakfast. However there is no Men's Breakfast in June because the youth of the Parish are using the only available room in Paloma. We look forward to another Men's Breakfast in July.
If you are interested in becoming a Catholic or you would like to know more about the Catholic Church, you are invited to an Enquiry Night on Thursday, 9th June at 7.00pm. The Enquiry Night is a very informal and non-threatening meeting to begin the process of learning more about the Catholic Church which is very precious to so many in our Parishes. The Enquiry Night will take place in the Activities Room, upstairs in the Paloma Centre, beside the Parish office.
Work on Our Lady of Lourdes Church is progressing with the asbestos ceiling being removed during the week. We have reached $257,545 donated to the rebuilding process. It is a great milestone as we are halfway to our aim of raising $500,000 to help reduce the future loan repayments.
There is still parking on the grassed area behind Our Lady of Lourdes Church on weekdays and weekends. Please park near the fence and do not block the entry for other cars.
This week will be the official week I begin my new role as Vicar for Clergy for the Archdiocese. As I've said over the last few weeks, half my time will be devoted to the new role and the other half I will continue to minister as Parish Priest at Sunnybank. I have also said I will be assisting Fr Ladu and Fr Dom who will be running the Parish during most weekdays with our wonderful Parish staff. Fr Dom will be in charge of the pastoral duties of the Parish this week as Fr Ladu is away on his annual retreat at the beautiful Retreat Centre at Ormiston on the Bay. Go the Mighty Maroons.
God bless, Fr Dan

YEAR OF MERCY PRAYER
Lord Jesus Christ, You have taught us to be merciful like the
heavenly Father, and have told us that whoever sees you sees
Him. Show us your face and we will be saved. Send your spirit
and consecrate every one of us with its anointing, so that the
Jubilee of Mercy may be a year of grace from the Lord, and your
Church, with renewed enthusiasm, may bring good news to the
poor, proclaim liberty to the captives and the oppressed, and
restore sight to the blind. We ask this through the Intercession
of Mary, Mother of Mercy, you who live and reign with the
Father and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen
The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ: Year C
Introduction: The sacramental sacrifice of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ contains and offers us all that we need to grow into true disciples of the Lord Jesus, adorers of the Father in spirit and truth, lovers of our brothers and sisters who share our joys and griefs with us on our pilgrimage to our home with God.
First Reading: Genesis 14: 18-20 Melchizedek appears from nowhere, blesses Abraham in the name of God Most High, and fades back into obscurity, to remain forever a type of Jesus, our Eternal High Priest.
Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 11: 23-26 Paul’s words to the Corinthians, reminding them of the meaning of what they do when they ‘break bread’, serve the same purpose for us. ‘Every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you are proclaiming his death’.
Gospel: Luke 9: 11-17 In Jesus’ feeding of the five thousand we see a foreshadowing of his feeding the believing minds and hearts of countless millions with the Bread of Life in the Eucharist we are celebrating here today.
YEAR OF MERCY FROM POPE FRANCIS
May the message of mercy reach everyone, and may no one be indifferent to the call to experience mercy. I direct this invitation to conversion even more fervently to those whose behaviour distances them from the grace of God. I particularly have in mind men and women belonging to criminal organisations of any kind. For their own good, I beg them to change their lives. I ask them this in the name of the Son of God, who, through rejecting sin, never rejected the sinner. Do not fall into the terrible trap of thinking that life depends on money and that, in comparison with money, anything else is devoid of value or dignity. This is nothing but an illusion! We cannot take money with us into the life beyond. Money does not bring us happiness. Violence inflected for the sake of amassing riches soaked in blood makes one neither powerful not immortal. Everyone, sonner or later, will be subject to God’s judgement, from which no one can escape. [Misericordiae Vultus, No.19]

VOCATION VIEW: Food usually becomes more when it is given than when it is taken - The more Jesus is given, the more we share Him, the more He increases.

Preparing a Will is the best way to ensure that the people you care about are properly provided for. When preparing your Will, your heart and mind turn first to your family and loved ones. Once they are provided for, a Will is a unique opportunity to make a significant gift to the people and organisations you care about.
Please prayerfully consider including a gift to our Parish. Your gift will help carry forward the gospel message to future generations.
