the educational tool: a ritual for the pesto.

People apprehend knowledge from books, but they do not become first actors of transmitting culture. Therefore we involve them in a

ritual preparation, in order they can learn, and “feel” the knowledge

The Republic of Pesto Ritual was created in order to unite those people who remind the importance to prepare genuine food with their own hands. In a world where humans are taught not to think about what they are eating, the risk to forget the basilar importance to be conscious of food ingredients recongnition is a fundamental knowledge for life sustainability. This concept and ritual action (from the musics to the cerimony) was adopted by some ligurian peoples as aim of their cultural heritage and has become main theme of the “Fool on Food” BBC1 trasmission reported by R.Branson on July14, 2006.Every Spring the ritual is repeated - with the support of the Ancient Fraternity of Pesto and local communities - in Spotorno, near Savona, on the Italian Riviera.
