Tax Installment Payment Plan (TIPP)
The Tax Installment Payment Plan is a popular program which allows you to pay your property taxes on a monthly basis instead of one payment in July. By
participating in TIPPs you don’t need to worry about the July 31st due date or late payment penalties.
How does TIPP work?
Each year property taxes are billed in May, due July 31st covering the period of January 1st to December 31st.
If you pay through TIPPs you don’t need to worry about the payment deadline or late payment penalties.
Your taxes are spread over 12 months, starting in January, with your account being paid in full after the
December installment.
Your installment amount is calculated by dividing your most recent annual tax levy by 12. This amount is to
be paid through automated withdrawals from your bank account the last day of each month.
When you receive your annual tax bill in May your installment will be adjusted to reflect the actual tax levy,
ensuring your account is paid in full by year end.
In the event you sell your property, you MUST notify the Town of Penhold in writing 15 days prior to
the next due date to arrange for cancelation.
In the event you need to change your bank account, you MUST notify the Town of Penhold in writing
15 days prior to the next due date.
Sign up simply by completing the Property Taxation Monthly Payment Plan and provide a void cheque. The form can be found online at http://
www.townofpenhold.ca/doing-business-in-penhold/forms/ or at the Town Office.
Fax to 403-886-4039, email info@townofpenhold.ca, mail to Town of Penhold, P.O. Box 10 Penhold, AB, T0M 1R0 or drop off at the Town Office.
You can sign up at any time!

May - Young Drivers
Motor vehicle collisions are the leading cause of death and injury among Alberta’s youth.
Parents and guardians can set rules for young drivers to reinforce good driving behavior.
Young drivers need to take responsibility for their own actions on the road.
A criminal record is forever.
Live to see your graduation – do not drive drunk or high.
What will happen if GDL program conditions or restrictions are violated?
Violating a program condition or restriction may result in a new driver being charged with an offence as outlined below:
Alcohol consumption Immediate 30 day suspension
More passengers than seat belts $100 fine and two demerit points
Driving after midnight (learners only) $100 fine and two demerit points
No accompanying driver $200 fine and two demerit points
How can I file a Bylaw or Municipal Violation Complaint?
Residents wishing to lodge a complaint about a potential Bylaw infraction or Municipal violation or who wish to request assistance
should contact the Community Peace Officers directly at Complaint & Inquiry, 403-588-0629 (Cell), 403-886-3286 (Office).
If further assistance is needed:
Innisfail RCMP: 403-227-3342
In case of an emergency, call 911
Crime Stoppers (Red Deer Area): 403-340-8477
You can now access the Public Report Form by going on line to the link below or on the Town of Penhold website under Peace Officers/
Bylaws: https://rex.reportexecdirect.com/Townofpenhold/CESIReportExec/olr/
The personal information collected on the Public Report Form is collected under the authority of Section 33( c) of the Alberta Freedom of

PUBLIC WORKS ANNUAL SPRING CLEAN UP
The Town of Penhold’s Annual Spring Clean
Up will be held May 22 to June 1, 2015.
Garbage containers will be placed at the
Lincoln Street Recreation Area.
It will be the RESIDENTS RESPONSIBILITY to
bring any unwanted items to the bins during
this time.
The town will continue to pick up appliances
if you are unable to transport them. There
will be designated areas for tires, propane
bottles and batteries.
NO OILS, PAINTS, ANTIFREEZE OR CHEMICALS
OF ANY KIND WILL BE ACCEPTED.
No yard waste will be accepted at the Spring
Clean-Up. Please take all yard waste to the
designated yard waste compost area.
TJ’S LAWNCARE 403-886-5880
TJ’S Lawncare has been serving Innisfail to Red Deer Area for the past 5 years and we just moved
the business to the Penhold area.
We are offering spring start ups for your lawn which include power raking and aerating as well as
fertilizing. We are also taking new weekly lawn care customers in Town as well as surrounding
Acreages.
Call for your estimate!
YARD WASTE COMPOST
For the months of May through October a temporary drop off location will be set up
for Yard Waste compost south of the Multiplex.
Accepted items are:
grass clippings
leaves
branches (no longer than 4’ or 1” in diameter)
No bags and no garbage please!
DRAINAGE
It is illegal to have any storm drainage draining into the sewer system, check down
spouts for illegal connections. If they exist have them removed immediately as the
extra flows can over load the sewer system and create sewer backups. It is also
important to understand that any water entering the sewer system is accompanied
with costs. The Town of Penhold must pay treatment and transmission costs for any
water entering the sewer system. These costs have a direct effect on utility rates. The
more water entering our sewer system the greater chance of utility rate increases.
CURB STOPS
If your curb stop has risen above ground level over the winter months please call the
Public Works department at 403-886-3282 and we will try to rectify the problem.
WATER LINE FLUSHING
Public Works will be doing their spring water line flushing throughout town. This
process may cause you to experience dirty water. To clear your lines please let your
taps run until clear. If the problem persists please give us a call at 403-886-3282.
Recycle & Reuse
During the annual spring clean up (May 22 to
June 1) there will be a designated area marked
FREE at Lincoln Street Park.
This area is for recycling items that you no
longer want, but could be considered treasures
to others in our community.

COMMUNITY SERVICES
Mental health means striking a balance in all aspects of your life:
social, physical, spiritual, economic and mental. Reaching a
balance is a learning process. At times, you may tip the balance
too much in one direction and have to find your footing again.
Your personal balance will be unique, and your challenge will be
to stay mentally healthy by keeping that balance (CMHA).

Event 18+
Community Fundraiser to support our community
programming and not-for-profit groups!
Penhold & District Library, Jesse Duncan Parent Action
Committee, Penhold School Parent Action Committee,
Community Ties, Penhold Museum, Optimist Club, Penhold
Church, Girl Guides, Kids Kingdom
As part of the Community Services Advisory Board we are looking at
creative ways to fundraise for our community not-for-profit groups. The
number one issue with each group is funding. At our March 2015 meeting
we decided to pursue a community bottle fundraiser.
The fundraisers will utilize an old trailer to be placed around our community
for people to recycle their bottles. This traveling trailer could be parked in
front of local businesses for community members to drop off their bottles.
Each week we will announce the new location of the travelling trailer. This
will allow community fundraising, support of local business and encourage
our citizens to get involved.
All the money raised will go to support our local community groups and
valued programs.
In order to start this program we need help from the community: we need a small enclosed trailer!

Improve Your Childs Listening Skills ( Tip Sheet for all ages)
Kids will be kids, its inevitable there will be times when your little angel will toss their wings aside and choose not to listen.
Children have a very short attention span so they need little reminders throughout the day to help develop responsibility. The more
you talk, though, the less they will listen, so simple directions are the way to go.
Here are some tips to improve listening skills:
Avoid Lecturing, after 3 words a child shuts you out and stops listening.
Avoid the use of negative words, like “stop”, “don’t” and “no”. Use more positive fraises like “walking feet in the house” or
“hands are not for hitting”.
Keep directions simple, especially for younger children.
Use one word as a kind reminder. Examples: dishes, socks, toys, bedtime.
Develop a plan with your child. When agreements are made together all you should need is one word.
As always, be a role model. Take the time to show your child you are listening to them. Allow them to talk without giving them
the words.
