finishes since 1924.

SHAKE WELL BEFORE USEDanish Oil contains tung oil and other special ingredients which penetrate deep into alltypes of timber, drying to a hard, durable and water resistant seal. The oil primes, sealsand finishes all woods, including oak, teak, mahogany and pine. It does not leave asurface film to chip or scratch. May also be used as a primer before painting andvarnishing. Excellent for use on all turned work including wooden handles of kitchenequipment and tops of storage jars. Rustins Danish Oil conforms to The Articles inContact with Food Regulations and to the Toys (Safety) Regulations 1995, BS:EN71 Part 3. We recommend Rustins Floor Oil for interior floors.

PreparationThe surface must be clean, sanded smooth andfree from contaminants like wax and dirt. For bestresults apply to dry, sound wood with a moisturecontent between 12-20%. Do not apply to greentimber. Oily woods (e.g. Teak, Iroko) should becleaned thoroughly with white spirit beforeapplication of Danish Oil. Exterior wood requires aminimum of 3 coats applied liberally and not wipedoff. To improve the penetration and durability dilutethe first coat 20% with white spirit. If applyingDanish Oil to veneered doors, it is advisable tocheck with the door manufacturer beforeproceeding. Exterior wood will require regular re-oiling, especially on horizontal surfaces and in veryexposed conditions. Oak and softwoods are proneto weather staining caused by moisture activatingmould spores present naturally in the wood. It isadvisable to treat the wood with Rustins AdvancedClear Wood Preserver before applying Danish Oil.Extra coats of Danish Oil are required to effectivelyseal these timbers. If in doubt use Rustins OutdoorClear Varnish or Rustins Flexterior. Bare wood maybe dyed if required with Rustins Wood Dye. If anatural open grain is not required such as withoak, then use Rustins Grain Filler prior to oiling.

ApplicationUsing a clean soft cloth or brush apply liberally, then wipe off the excess after a few minutes. For asuperior smooth finish the final coat may be appliedusing a plastic scouring pad, rubbing in thedirection of the grain, wiping away the surplus witha soft cloth or paper towels. New or bare woodshould be oiled 3 times initially.

Re-Coating TimeAllow 4 to 8 hours between applications dependingon the temperature and humidity.

MaintenanceWhen applying to previously oiled wood, the surfaceshould be cleaned and any wax removed usingwhite spirit or Rustins Surface Cleaner. Wipe awaythe solution formed with clean paper towels, priorto re-oiling. If the surface develops a slight gloss, this can be removed by rubbing with grade 00 or000 steel wool and either wax polish or white spiritfinishing off with a soft cloth. If compatibility with a previously coated surface is not known, then test by applying to a small area first.

Coverage1 litre covers approximately 14 square metresper coat depending on the absorbency of thewood.

CleaningRemove excess product from brushes beforecleaning whilst wet with white spirit or RustinsBrush Cleaner. Hard brushes can be cleaned withRustins Brush Restorer.

ImportantRags used for oiling must be laid out flat to dry ordestroyed, otherwise they may catch fire due tospontaneous combustion.
