INTRODUCTIONthis presentation is organized to provide the structure and

of the MASTER OF THE GRID energy game

since the introduction of SMART GRID will have a deep impact on energy consumptions models and on users’ behavior, this game is designed as a necessary “step in between” to show these changes and to provide the required skills and knowledge

in the safe and simulated environment of a serious game, users can discover what is going to change soon to the way they con-sume electricity, and they are provided basic knowledge to master this change

-pare their “virtual” status with their real energy behavior in their house

1

AIM OF THE GAME

2

INITIAL POINT: HOW TO INTRODUCE SMART GRID IN HOUSEHOLDS, CONSUMPTION BASED ON FLEXIBILITY

SITUATION: ENERGY BEHAVIOR CANNOT CHANGE UNTILL THE ENERGY SCENARIO CHANGES (PRICE, AFFORDABILITY, TECHNOLOGY)

STRATEGY: CREATE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT OF LEARNING THAT SHOWS USERS THE NEED AND ADVANTAGES OF SMART GRID

SOLUTION: EMPLOY GAME DESIGN AND SOCIAL INTERACTION TO MERGE LEARNING AND ENGAGEMENT IN A SOCIAL GAME ABOUT ENERGY

OUTCOME: GIVE USERS KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS TO BE EMPLOYED IN THE REAL ENVIRONMENT WITH STIMULI COMING FROM SOCIAL INTERACTION AND CONTROLL AND FEEDBACK FROM REAL CONSUMPTION

3

LEVEL 1 - WHERE ELECTRICITY COMES FROM

LEVEL 2 - HOW IT SHOULD BE CONSUMED

LEVEL 3 - HOW CONSUMPTION EFFECTS THE WORLD
