Background
• Agricultural data collection and managementThe main agencies responsible for agricultural
statistics are the National Statistical Office (NSO) and the Office of Agricultural Economics (OAE).
NSO conducts the agricultural census and Surveying in Agricultural changing (inter-census) to collect fundamental data on the structure of national agriculture.
OAE conducts the agricultural survey, e.g. Crop Production Survey, Livestock Production Survey, Cost of Production Survey.

NSO under the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (MICT) has conduct the agricultural census every 10 years in accordance with the recommendation of the FAO

• Census Date : Reference date on 1 May 2013
• Coverage : Covered all of agricultural holdings in
both municipal area and non-municipal area in the
whole kingdom By using “Closed segment Concept”
• Closed segment concept means : data collection
within the province, the agricultural holder who
operated agricultural activities only within their
current province will be listed and enumerated

The Post – Enumeration Survey of The 2013 Agricultural Census
The PES was conducted for all households of the selected enumeration areas throughout the country. The Stratified Single-Stage Sampling was applied to this PES. There were four stratums referring to four regions – Central, North, Northeast and South and provinces in each region were represented as sub-stratum.

Objectives of PES To estimate the coverage error in the census in terms of agricultural holders and area of holding
To evaluate content error by studying differences in responses on selected characteristics of agricultural holders in the census and PES such as- Agricultural activity engagement : growing rice, planting para rubber, planting permanent crops etc.
