The Song of Songs
Hallelujah to the King
Maker of the heavens and earth
Exalted by the roar of a multitude:
“Salvation and glory and power
Belong to our God”.
The cry of hallelujah resounds
The fullness of time shows his victory
Justice and truth are revealed
His wisdom adored.
Chorus:
Hallelujah to the King of Kings
Hallelujah the Almighty reigns
Let us all rejoice and give him all our praise, our
praise.
Praise the Lord you servants of God
All who fear him come, whether small or great:
Fall before his throne in awe
And worship him.
Blessed are those who will feast
At the glorious banquet of God himself;
The wedding of the Lamb has come,
His bride is now here.
Chorus:
Hallelujah to the King of Kings
Hallelujah the Almighty reigns
Let us all rejoice and give him all our praise, our
praise.
Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords
Hallelujah to the God of power
The people of the Lord are ready to see their
king,Jesus.
Desert Song
This is my prayer in the desert
When all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in my hunger and need
My God is the God who provides
And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me, Lord, through the flame
CHORUS
And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon formed against me shall remain
I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here
And this is my prayer in the battle
When triumph is still on its way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand
(Chorus)
All of my life
In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship
(Repeat)
(Chorus)
This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be emptied again
The seed I've received I will sow
Presentation - Paul
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be
thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive
every one that is indebted to us. And lead us
not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.

The Beloved’s proclamation
1I am come into my garden, my sister, my spouse:
I have gathered my myrrh with my spice; I have
eaten my honeycomb with my honey; I have drunk
my wine with my milk: eat, O friends; drink, yea,
drink abundantly, O beloved.
The Death, Resurrection and Glorification of
Jesus Christ
The Garden:
The spirit of God (kingdom of heaven)
The body of man within the spirit of God
(kingdom of God)
Sister – as fellow children of God
Spouse – the relationship between Christ and the
Church
The Myrrh – Symbolic of the death
The Spices – Frankincense? Used as part of
trespass offerings (deliberate sins)
The honey from the honeycomb –
The very finest honey, pure, undefiled and highly
sort after.
The honey from the honeycomb The Old Testament
Psalm 19:7-10 7 The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the
testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:
the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the
eyes. 9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the
judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether. 10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much
fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
The Wine and the Milk The New Testament
Hebrew 5:12 12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have
need that one teach you again which be the first
principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as
have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
The Maiden takes up the story…
2 I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my
beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my
sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my
head is filled with dew, and my locks with the
drops of the night.
3 I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I
have washed my feet; how shall I defile them?
Sleep – we all sleep waiting to be awakened
Knocking:
Revelations 3:20 20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear
my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and
will sup with him, and he with me.
“my sister, my love, my dove, myundefiled” –>
“my sibling, who I desire, who is faithful to me and
cleansed”
Dew:
Hosea 14:4-5
4 I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for
mine anger is turned away from him.
5 I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the
lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.
Putting off the Coat and Washing the feet
The removal of the evil coat
Continuing our journey without it
John 13:8
8 Peter saith unto him, Thou shalt never wash my feet.
Jesus answered him, If I wash thee not, thou hast no part
with me.
The Maiden continues her story
4 My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the
door, and my bowels were moved for him.
5 I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands
dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet
smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock.
6 I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had
withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed
when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find
him; I called him, but he gave me no answer.
The response to the call:
Christ does not just knock – he tries the door
handle
The maiden recognises his voice and responds
She rises to his request to “let him in”
Rising in faith and hope through the spirit (myrrh)
Only through the power of the spirit can she open
the door (lock)
The expectation in opening the door is immediate
satisfaction – but instead feels even further away.
(sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know!)
This is a great example of growing pains
Hymn 6
Who can describe the joys prepared,
For those who love with one accord
T’ obey the word the Lord has given;
Who dwells above, enthron’d in heav’n.
Eye hath not seen, ear hath not heard,
What for His children He’th prepared;
Neither can mortal man conceive
The joys of those who in Him live.
But glorious treasures are in store,
And He will manifest his pow’r,
When all the world together sing,
And praise and glorify their King.
They now behold the happy day,
When evil will be swept away;
When all the kingdoms under heav’n
Will unto Isr’el’s seed be given.
The Maiden goes off the rails. – well sort of
7 The watchmen that went about the city found me,
they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of
the walls took away my veil from me.
8 I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find
my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of
love.
The Watchmen again!
The maiden is looking for answers to what this new
development means and what’s going on
The faith and new found belief is torn down by
those that don’t believe it
Her beliefs are exposed and she feels shame
because she is mocked/singled out/ridiculed
The appeal to the daughters of
Jerusalem
She appeals desperately to others weaker than
herself to help her through her confusion
Sick of love – she is overcome again, but not with
Joy this time, in humiliation
The questions from the daughters of Jerusalem
(other believers)
9 What is thy beloved more than another beloved,
O thou fairest among women? what is thy beloved
more than another beloved, that thou dost so
charge us?
The maiden responds (perhaps recovers?)
10 My beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest
among ten thousand. 11 His head is as the most fine gold, his locks are
bushy, and black as a raven. 12 His eyes are as the eyes of doves by the rivers of
waters, washed with milk, and fitly set. 13 His cheeks are as a bed of spices, as sweet
flowers: his lips like lilies, dropping sweet
smelling myrrh. 14 His hands are as gold rings set with the beryl:
his belly is as bright ivory overlaid with sapphires.
thou fairest among women – others recognise her as a
strong christian
Why is this so relationship important to you?
How is this better than what we have?
15 His legs are as pillars of marble, set upon
sockets of fine gold: his countenance is as
Lebanon, excellent as the cedars. 16 His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether
lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend,
O daughters of Jerusalem.
How the Maiden sees her beloved
10. He is Pure, full of Life and Power. A
mighty leader - such as King David
11. He is the divine King with the power of
youth eternally
12. He sees all things perfectly and the way
he sees things is beautiful
13. He sacrificed his life for ours, through
his lips comes teaching which imparts to us
the spirit
14. The works of his hands is the work of
God (Gold) and is sure (beryl). He feels
(bowels) directly toward us in a perfect
(bright) self-sacrificing (ivory) way with
heavens power (sapphire)
15. He is unshakable, walking in the power
of God, set above all others and exceling all
others
16. Every word he speaks is wonderful, in
fact he is completely wonderful. He is my
beloved and he is my friend.
In Christ Alone
In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.
In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.
There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.
No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.
How deep the Father's love for us
How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure
How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory
Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers
It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished
I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection
Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom.
