/////// A brief /////////////////////// history /////////////////////// of printing//////////
printing is a process that makes copies of a master image. tech-nologies are constantly developing and with this comes more efficient printing. Making faster copies with in-depth resolution, and even big-ger brighter prints. The first innovation came with moveable type. Although the very first moveable type was re-corded in China the true
innovator was Johannes gutenberg. the build up of moveable saw a vast selection of typefaces.from here, the printing press took off and be-came popular in europe and then the world. with the creation of the print-ing press saw lots of vari-ations, some big some small all doing the same job. travelling forward in time saw the invention of the offset press.

/////// A brief /////////////////////// history /////////////////////// of printing////////// After the huge machines
of the printing press, screen-printing was intro-duced. Screen-printing originates from simple stencilling. Flexography next on the timeline is the process of creating a mirrored master image of what’s required for printing. Although mainly used for packaging, flexography can be used in conjunc-tion with a letterpress. Using the plastic model
made previously can then be painted onto and then pressed into paper. After these advances in the history of printing, evolu-tion of technology then paved the way for the laser printer. Later came the inkjet printer that could both be used at home on a personal com-puter. The most popular models offer users a very cheap way to print all kinds of designs.

typography is what language looks like. A quote taken from the thinking with type book, by ellen Lupton. typography can be dated back to ancient times. The Phaistos Disc is the first know record we have of typography. the disc was a piece of clay imprinted with symbols and was then cooked in a kiln, to re-use with inks as a mould.below is an example of a well-designed font:

he Gutenberg bible was printed using this font. Although the bible is extremely old the typefaces before are rarely digitise. The bible was created in Germany in the year 1450. Most of the book was set out in a two column structure and featured black and red colours. Only 21 copies of the bible still remain today.
