Technical Design Assignment

• This assignment is due at the end of the period.

• All items on this design list should be stapled together as a group packet and turned in.

• Following directions is key to earning all of the points for this assignment.

• You will receive a copy of these instructions for reference

Set Design(s)

• For each different setting in your play, create a set design. Your design should be:• Drawn as an over head view of the acting area on plain white paper

• Labeled and colored

• Audience labeled

• Scene number and scene title (example- Scene 2, the woods)

Mask Designs

• each actor should create a mask design for each character in your play

• The design should include details for how you plan to decorate your masks.

• Each design should include:• Mask shape drawn and colored on plain white paper

• A materials list detailing what materials will be used on that particular mask

• Each design titled with actor and character names (example- Jane Smith as Atalanta)

Supplies Needed:• Mask (made from paper plate)• Yellow paint (mask)• Blue paint (eye brows)• Cotton balls (beard)• Poster board (beard)• Yarn or string for attaching mask

Costume Designs

• Each actor should create a costume design for the play. The design should include:• Costume drawn, colored and labeled on plain white paper

• Any personal props or accessories the character needs (crowns, scepters, glasses…etc.)

• Each design titled with actor and character names (example- Jane Smith as Atalanta)

Prop list

• A list of all hand props or special set pieces your group needs for the performance. The list should include:• All props and who is responsible

for brining them in

• Any special set pieces your group plans on creating

• Do not include classroom furniture you plan to use

Sample Prop List

• Blue sheet (for water)- Ken

• Flowers in basket- Sue

• Scrolls for narrator- Nathan

• Crown and scepter- Louise

• Chariot made of cardboard- Jan

Sound Design

• A description of the music and/or sound FX your group plans on using in your performance.

• This design should include:• A list of music or sound FX, when

specifically they’ll be used in the play• And who is responsible for brining

them in

Sample Sound Design

• Birds chirping- p. 3-4 when chorus is narrating

• Trumpets- p. 6 King’s entrance

• “Never on Sunday” Greek Instrumental music from Amazon-p.9 for the end of the narration

Larry will be providing all of the music and making a playlist on his phone

Cover Page

• Submit your group’s designs by creating a cover page which includes the following information: • Title of play, Group members’

names, table # and period #.

• If you have more than one character- choose the one with the most lines

• Yes, you have to do it even if you are Chorus part. They are still a character.

This assignment will be turned in separately from the technical portfolio
