Taking Retail Customer Experience to the Next Level
With Geo-fencing
Geo-targeting is targeting prospects in geographies a
business has presence in or where the business caters to.
Geo-fencing, on the other hand, involves targeting customers and/or
prospects (who are within a defined radius) to invite them to the store
or engage with the business.
Geo-fencing uses cellular triangulation to deliver custom
messages to consumers who have opted-in to receive such
messages / notifications.
On receipt of relevant/contextual push notifications,
customers are likely to act on the specified call-to-action…
…such as visit the store to purchase a product. For
instance, a notification on the arrival of a novelty product
whose stocks are likely to last for a few hours only.
The technology can be leveraged to deliver contextually
relevant messaging which is powerful in driving higher sales…
For instance, a customer who has visited a cosmetics store
would also be likely to be interested in beauty treatment…
…a beauty salon located in proximity to the cosmetics
store can geo-fence customers who visit the cosmetics
store..
There are several other uses of geo-fencing:
A. Announce clearance sales
B. Communicate Discounts & Offers
C. Notify consumers if store is closed
D. Alert customers of Store Presence
Many customers prefer to order online and pick-up from
store. If a customer who has opted for this option is
passing by the store location, a notification can be sent.
Geo-fencing is an advanced technology that can be leveraged by
retailers to drive sales in an increasingly hyper-local environment.
