AboutUsGoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementwasmanymonthsintheplanning.OpeninginJuly2009withprevocationalandintroductoryclasses.InSeptember2009afterrigorousinspectionbytheStateGovernmentwereceivedregistrationasaRegisteredTrainingOrganisation.WethencommencedinOctober2009withourfirststudentsbeginningtheirstudiestoachieveCertificatesIIandIIIinFloristry.2010wasayearofconsolidationforusandourstudents–weastrainersgainednewexperienceandhavefine-tunedourtrainingpackagetosuittheneedsofourstudents.ElevenstudentscompletedtheirCertificateII&IIIinFloristrywithusin2010andarenowqualifiedflorists.Ofthisgroupmosthavejobsintheindustrywhileothersarelookingatpurchasingtheirownfloristshops.In2010wealsocommencedourfirstschool-basedtraineeandnowhaveavailablefundingforthesestudentsaswellasfulltimeadulttrainees.2011hasseenuscontinuetodeliverCertificateII&IIIaswellasaCertificateIVinFloristrycoursetodevelopfurtherfloristryskillsindesignandconstructionoffloralproductsaswellasspecialisinginsmallbusinessunitstoassistourgraduatesinbecomingmanagersorbusinessownersontheyhavecompletedthecourse.Duringthisyearwehavetrainedoraretrainingover20students.During2012,2013and2014and2015wehavecontinuedtodeliverqualitytrainingtoover170studentsincludingstudentsinmanyotherareasofQueenslandincludingAyr,Warwick,Mackay,SunshineCoast,Kingaroy,GladstoneandBrisbane.2016seestheintroductionofthelatesttrainingpackageSFL15withanewsetofunitsbeingdeliveredtoallowstudentstoachieveSFL30115CertificateIIIinFloristry.WeincorporatetheunitsinSLF20115CertificateIIinFloristryintoourcourse.Thisisbeingofferedasa30weekcoursecombiningbothCertificateII&IIIcourse.

AsaRegisteredTrainingOrganisation(RTO)wedelivernationallyrecognisedqualificationsin:CertificateIIinFloristrySFL20115Thisqualificationissuitedtothoseworkingasassistantsinaretailshoporstudio,orasaproductionlineassistant.Assistantswithinthefloristryindustryhavealimitedrangeofbasicfloristrytechnicalskillsandperformroutinetasksusingbasicfloristryoperationalknowledge.Assistantsmaydevelopretailandcustomerserviceskills.WedonotofferthisasastandalonecoursebutincorporatetheunitsintoourCertificateIIIcourse.CertificateIIIinFloristrySFL30115Thisqualificationistheindustryrecognised‘trade’qualificationtooperateasaflorist.Floristshaveawelldevelopedcustomerserviceskillsandapplytechniquestodesignandconstructarangeoffloristryproductstomeettheneedsofcustomers.Theyprovidetechnicaladviceandsupportteammembers.InAustralia,onlyRegisteredTrainingOrganisationscanissuenationallyrecognisedqualifications.OurRTOprovidercodeis31989.OurcampusisinHelensvale.Ourcoursesaredeliveredbyanappropriatelyqualifiedandexperiencedtrainer,andthroughavarietyofmethods.Weoffertrainingsessionsvia:

CodeofConductAsaresponsiblememberoftheVETcommunity,GoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementfollowsaCodeofConductwhichoutlineshowyoucanexpecttheorganisationandourstafftobehave.SimilarlyGoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementhasexpectationsforstudentbehaviour.Theseareoutlinedinthesection‘StudentConduct’.GoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementCodeofConductstatesthat:Inallactivitieswebehaveinaprofessionalmanner,andofferthebestpossibletrainingandeducation.Weaimtomakeyourlearningbothpleasurableandvaluableandforstudentstogaintheskillsthatwillgivestudentstheskillstobeavaluableemployeeinafloristshop/studio.Wecreateandcontinuetoimproveatrainingpackagethatwillgivestudentscreativeskillsaswellasretailabilitiesrequiredtosucceedinthefloristryindustry.Ourtrainingpackagehasbeendevelopedwithongoingconsultationwiththeindustryandwereceivefeedbackfromemployersmakingchangestoimprovetrainingwheneverrequired.Wehavea

EnrolmentprocessTheenrolmentprocessfollowsthefollowingsteps:AccessofourStudentHandbookwillbesupplied,eitherinhardcopyorviaourwebsiteforyoutoreadandunderstand.Anenrolmentformmustbecompleted,togetherwithanyrequiredobservationsand/orself-assessmentregardingspecialcircumstancesand/ortrainingneeds.Itisvitalthatyoudiscloseanyconditionthatmayaffectyourlearningstyleduringclasses.StudentsapplyingforCertificate3GuaranteeFundingwillbeadvisedoftheireligibilityifapplicable.Informationonthefeesandchargesrelatingtoyourproposedcourseofstudywillbeprovided,andpaymenttermsandmethodswillbeagreedupon.Oncethesestepsarecompleteyouwillbeadvisedthatyouareenrolledinthecourse.Notethatenrolmentisnotconfirmeduntilfeeshavebeenpaidasagreed.

EntryRequirementsTherearenoprerequisitestocommenceourCertificateIIIinFloristryqualificationasallCertificateIIunitsofcompetencyareincluded.

UniqueStudentIdentifier(USI)AUSIisrequiredbyallAustraliansundertakingnationallyrecognisedtraining.Itallowsstudentstolinktoasecureonlinerecordofallqualificationsgainedregardlessoftheprovider.ThissystemwasimplementedbytheAustralianGovernmentin2015,soitwillshowstudentachievementsfrom1January2015onwards.AsanRTO,GoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementcannotissueCertificatesorStatementsofAttainmentwithoutaUSI.Therefore,itismandatorythatallstudentssupplytheirUSIuponenrolment.DuringyouronlineenrolmentprocessyouwillbegivenanopportunitytoaccessthewebsiteandapplyforyourUSI.Ifyouhaveanyissuepleasefollowthelinkbelow.IfyoudonothaveaUSI,pleasevisithttps://www.usi.gov.au/students/create-your-usiformoreinformation,andinstructionsonhowtoapply.

PersonalLearningPlanAspartoftheoverallenrolmentprocess,GoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementwillworkwithyoutodevelopacustomisedplanforyourlearningthatwilladdresscourserequirementsaswellasyourpersonalcircumstances.ThisincludestheopportunityforyoutocompleteaLanguage,LiteracyandNumeracy(LLN)indicatorwhichwillidentifyanyareasinwhichadditionalsupportmayberequired.

Re-issueofTranscriptsAnadministrationfeeof$25.00appliesforGoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementtore-issueacopyofyourCertificateorStatementofAttainment.

LateSubmissionofAssessmentIncaseswhereassessmentshavenotbeensubmittedwithinthecoursetimeframe,afeewillapplyforlatesubmissionstobeassessed.Similarly,ifyoure-submitanassessmentpreviouslymarked‘NotYetCompetent’(NYC)outsideoftheagreedtrainingcontracttime,afeetomarktheseassessmentswillalsoapply.Acostof$25.00perassessmentwillapplyandwillbeinvoicedtoyou.

CancellationFeeAcancellationfeemayapplyforwithdrawingfromacourse.Priortocommencementarefundof50%ofyourdepositwillapply.

CompetencyBasedTrainingCompetencyBasedTraining(CBT)isanapproachtoteachingthatfocusesonallowingastudenttodemonstratetheirabilitytodosomething.UsedintheVETsector,CBTisusedtodevelopconcreteskillsandistypicallybasedonastandardofperformanceexpectedintheworkplaceandindustry.CBTprogramsdeliverqualificationsthataremadeupofUnitsofCompetency.Eachunitdefinestheskillsandknowledgerequiredtoeffectivelyperformintheworkplace.AssessmentisbaseduponthelearningoutcomesexpectedfromeachUnitofCompetency.

HowDoesAssessmentWorkinCBT?UnlikethetraditionalschoolsystemofgradingassessmentsonascalerangingfromAtoFail,assessmentofCBTdeterminesifyouhavetherequiredskillsandknowledge…ornotyet.AssessmentisspecificallyconductedtodetermineifastudentcandeliveressentialoutcomesrelatedtotheperformancecriteriawithineachUnitofCompetency.Basically,thismeansassessmentisconductedtoseewhetherornotastudenthastherequiredskillsandknowledgetoperformeffectivelyintheworkplace.Ifastudent’sperformanceintheassessmentdoesnotdemonstratetherequirements,ratherthanafail,competencybasedassessmentmeansthestudentismarkedas‘NotYetCompetent’,andmoretrainingisrequiredtogettothepointofbeing‘Competent’.Assessorswilllookforevidenceagainstwhichtobasetheirjudgementsofcompetency.Thewaystodemonstratetoourqualifiedassessorsthatyoucanperformtotherequiredstandardandbeclassedas‘Competent’or‘MeetingRequirements’,include:

ApprenticeshipsandTraineeshipsGoldCoastFloristryandRetailManagementgivesallstudentsenrolledinanapprenticeshiportraineeshipatrainingplanwhichoutlineshowandwhentrainingwilltakeplace.Thisissignedbyallpartiesinvolved,andgiventoyouatthestartofthetrainingcontract.

SimulatedWorkplaceEnvironmentTheRTOensuresthatthetrainingdeliveredistothestandardsofarealworkplaceenvironment.TomeetthisrequirementTheRTOhasimplementedavarietyofassessmenttoolsthatwillbeimplementedduringthecourseofthequalification.Theseassessmenttoolsassessvariousdifferentelementsofareal/actualworkplacehoweverinasimulatedtrainingenvironment.TheRTOmeetstheneedforareal-timeworkplacesimulationenvironmentby:

• Having a fully functional cool room, tools and equipment that are required in the workplace

• The RTO’s trainers represent the role of a real client and portray the workplace demands while working on projects. This includes role-play of difficult & diverse type customers.

• Students prepare time lines, design arrangements, activities as are required for assessment

• Working as a team (group work/assignments), for research activities

AssessmentContinuousImprovement

AssessmentValidationandModerationprocessTheRTOwillholdaspecificassessmentvalidationandmoderationmeetingsattendedbytherelevantprogramtrainers/assessors.Assessmentvalidationmeetingsareconductedinitiallyafterreceivingordevelopingnewassessmenttoolstoensurethattheassessmenttoolsmeetthetrainingpackagerequirements.Assessmenttoolswillbeformallymoderatedatleastannually.Themoderationprocessinvolvesthereviewofsamplesofpastassessmentstoconfirmthattheacceptedstandardofcompetencyisstillunderstoodandisbeingimplemented.PastRPLsubmissionswillbeexaminedtoensurethatacceptedprocessesandthestandardofevidenceisreliablyacceptable.IssuesofconcernwithassessmenttoolswillbetabledatthenextTheRTOmanagementmeeting,AnyagreedadjustmentstotheassessmenttoolsandRPLdocumentationwillberecordedintheminutesofthemanagementmeetingsandthenew/revisedassessmenttoolsandRPLdocumentationwillbecirculatedtorelevantstaff.Recordsofallassessmentmoderationmeetingswillbekeptonfile.
