The Week of May 10, 2021 Sixth Sunday of Easter

Today is the Sixth Sunday of Easter. For the past several weeks we have heard from St. John images portraying Christ to the world only found in his Gospel. Two weeks ago, it was the ‘Good Shepherd’ image, last weekend it was image of the ‘vine and the branches’. This weekend, as Jesus realizes that his time here on earth is coming to a close, he will be returning soon to his Father. He leaves us one last com-mand… to love one another as he has loved us. Not always easy, but the rewards are immeasur-able. This is truly the ultimate calling to be his disciple.

Welcome Fr. Scott Kopp! Fr. Kopp has been as-

signed to our parish as our next Pastor. Fr. Kopp is

currently pastor of Holy Trinity Parish in East Liver-

pool (St. Aloysius Church). He is also the Vocations

Director for the Diocese. He is 45 years old and has

been ordained for the Diocese of Youngstown in

2017. Along with being our new pastor, he will re-

main Vocations Director for the Diocese. He will of-

ficially take over on Tuesday, June 1.

This week is Fr. Frank’s Retirement Sale! After

his announcement of his retirement the weekend

of April 10/11, and with the need to greatly

downsize, he will hold a retirement sale on Fri-

day, May 14- 9:00 – 4:00, Saturday, May 15-

9:00 – 4:00, and Sunday, May 16- 12:00 – 3:00.

There are many one-of-a-kind collectible items.

Check this sale out… Fr. Frank has many unique

items. There will be tables and tables of items for

you to check out! Fr. Frank’s last Mass here at

St. Thomas, as pastor, will be on Sunday, May

30 at 10:00 a.m. A reception of coffee, punch

and cookies will take place in the Parish Center.

Soon we will celebrate our 5th year in the new church, and we will be burying a time capsule near the Blessed Mother’s statue at the east corner of the church. Since we opened our new church on July 3, 2016 we have been col-lecting remembrances to place in a time cap-sule. The time has come to seal that time cap-sule. There will be a marker stating when it was sealed and when it is to be opened. On July 3, 2066 on the Feast of St. Thomas the Apostle, 50 years from when we dedicated our church, the capsule will be opened.

To become eligible for this weekly drawing, you need to activate your ‘Pot of Gold’ en-velope by placing $2 into the pre-dated en-

velope. Each Monday morning we will draw a num-ber from all the parishioner numbers for that date, and if we draw your number, and you activated your envelope, you win! Good luck! All envelopes must be in the parish office by Monday at 9:00 a.m. For the weekend of May 1/2 we had no winner # 575. The pot was worth $ 106.00.
