SPARK is the theme of Exponential 2015, inspired by these words Paul wrote to Timothy: “For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:6-7).

- [ ]

When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea, 17got into a boat, and started across the sea to Capernaum. It was now dark, and Jesus had not yet come to them. 18The sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing. 19When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus walking on the sea and coming near the boat, and they were frightened. 20But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.” 21Then they were glad to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat was at the land to which they were going. —John 6:16-21

Blessed assurance, Jesus is mine! Oh, what a foretaste of glory divine! Heir of salvation, purchase of God, born of His Spirit, washed in His blood.

This is my story, this is my song, Praising my Savior all the day long.

Perfect submission, perfect delight, visions of rapture now burst on my sight; Angels, descending, bring from above echoes of mercy, whispers of love.

Trunk or Treat Saturday, October 24| 6-8 p.m.

Join us for a night of fun as we hold a Trunk or Treat event for the Cypress community. It’ll be a festive night in our church parking lot where we invite people to decorate their car trunks in a theme of their choice. Children are invited to dress up and go from car to car to trick or treat. Gearheads for God will join in on the fun with a car and tractor show. Let us know if you can help out by bringing some candy or if your family is interested in decorating a trunk. Prizes will be given for best decorated trunks. Don’t miss out on the fun!

Today we celebrate the Twentieth Sunday after Pentecost. This season begins with Trinity Sunday (celebrating the mysteries of God) and culminates with Christ the King Sunday (where all things in heaven and earth will be together under one head, Jesus Christ). The liturgical color for this season is green, which is the color for growth, leaves, fruit, and life, suggesting a time of spiritual growth.
