ST. ISIDORE the FARMER CATHOLIC CHURCH Growing Faith, Family and Friendship since 1961

Mission

We, the parish of St. Isidore the Farmer, are dedi-

cated to growing a life-long Catholic community.

Believing in the Risen Christ, we are empowered

by the Holy Spirit to celebrate the Eucharist, to be

nourished by the Word of God, and to serve the

needs of the local and worldwide community.

The First Sunday

of Lent

February 17, 2018

Stewardship The waters of Baptism make us part of the new covenant in Christ. The Bishop’s pastoral letter on stewardship reminds us that there is a fundamental obligation arising from the Sacrament of Baptism…. that people place their gifts, their resources—their selves—at God’s service in and through the Church.

Vocation View This is the time of fulfillment. The reign of God is at hand. Let us reform our lives and believe in the Good News. (Mark 1:12-15)

Lenten opportunities Beginning on Thursday, February 22nd, and continuing on Thursdays during Lent, Father

Jack will lead the Stations of Cross at 5:30 pm followed by Lenten daily Mass at 6:00 p.m. Sue Schettler will present The Gospel of Mark on Thursdays March 1, 8 & 15th following Lenten Mass. A light dinner will be served. (See the insert page in this week’s bulletin.) All are welcome! Also, check out in the Gathering Space the various Lenten booklets, Rice Bowl materials, and pamphlets with online resources available for your use during Lent!

Lenten Regulations Pray, Fast, Give! Lent is the principal season of penance in the Christian year. Priests, reli-

gious and laity are strongly encouraged to develop and follow a program of voluntary self-denial (in addition to fol-lowing Lenten regulations) serious prayer and performance of works of charity and mercy.
