Credit Reports The New Year is the perfect
Time to request your free annual
credit report from the three
credit reporting agencies!
Another good time is your
birthday! With the Equifax
breach in 2017, and so many
others, Spirit of America
recommends you review your
credit report at least annually.
Look for any suspicious activity
and monitor for identity theft.
To receive your free credit report go to:
www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the official site
established by the Federal Government, using this site
assures you of FREE information.
Unable to go online? Call 877.322.8228 and go through a
verification process over the phone. Your report will be
mailed to you within 15 days.
Avoid going to websites that offer you a
“free credit report” but then enroll you in
a service that charges a fee. You should
never enter your account or plastic card
number to receive your FREE credit report.
Beware of Free Trial Offers! Getting a “free trial product or service” is a good way to try the
item without buying it, but be sure to read the fine print before
agreeing to the terms! There could be extras you are agreeing
to “purchase” in the future with your free deal!
Do your research before you click or call. Review what other
customers have said about the company. Read the fine print.
Make a note of the free trial period ending date to cancel
before the deadline. Watch your accounts to look for charges.
Once you have agreed to the terms you will be out refunds.
