Maintenance Issues
Perceptions vs. Reality • Will it turn yellow?
• Do I have to “do” windows?
• What about graffiti?
• Do I have to sand and buff out scratches?
All plastics are not created equal!
Does PARAGLAS turn yellow? NO!
ParaglasCompetitor’s
Installed Seven Years with no Maintenance!
Does PARAGLAS turn yellow? NO!
NJ DOT
Yes
Light scratches may be removed / reduced by hand polishing with products such as Novus Plastic Polish.
Deeper scratches will require wet sanding with a 400 then 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper followed by buffing with a muslin wheel and a plastic buffing compound.
Will the panels scratch / Can they be removed?
What About Glare?
In over 30 years of noisewall experience there has never been a reported issue with glare from either the sun or vehicle headlamps.
Some reasons why:
1) The reflections are typically above the line-of-sight
2) The intensity of the light is significantly reduced over the distance travelled
3) Only a portion of the light is reflected most passes through the panel
4) Rarely is light transmitted at 90 degrees
Grafitti may be removed from PARAGLAS SOUNDSTOP sheet using a grafitti remover designed for use on plastics.
Grafitti removal on Acrylite/Paraglas Soundstop is the easiest on any noise barrier material.
The smooth surface allows easy removal via pressurewasher
Grafitti solvents are fully biodegradeable and safe for all uses.
Can graffiti be removed from the panel? Yes!
PARAGLAS SOUNDSTOP sheets typically require no cleaning beyond an occaisonal hard rain to remove dirt and grime accumulation.
In the event a more substantial cleaning is required, CYRO recommends using a high pressure washer with liquid soap in water, or Windex Outdoors.
PARAGLAS SOUNDSTOP sheets should not be cleaned with alcohols, acetone, lacquer thinner, or cleaners with abrasives.
Do the panels need to be cleaned or powerwashed?
