PUBLIC TRANSPORT ISSUES IN SL

Uncomfortable travelling

models

Uncomfortable and crowded

Less availability of buses

Unaffordable bus fare

Time waste in traffic jams

Air pollution with fuel burn

Solar Power Buses It can be easily implemented for Sri Lanka

Subsidiary for fuel

Sri Lanka located nearby equator

We can have good consistent sunshine annually

So Many advantages…

SOLUTION ??????????

In 1990 requiring regulations on “zero emission” on vehicles

Solar vehicles were firstly tested by universities and manufacturers

in California

Sunpods inc., fully integrated and tested solar power generation

systems, and Bauer intelligent transportation made first solar

power-assist system for buses

Nowadays many countries using solar power buses

HISTORY OF THE TECHNOLOGY

These methods use photovoltaic cells(PVC) that directly convert sunlight to electricity.

PVCs are the components in solar paneling that convert the sun's energy to electricity.

They're made up of semiconductors, usually made of silicon, that absorb the light.

HOW DOES SOLAR ENERGY WORK

• The sunlight's energy then frees electrons in

the semiconductors, creating a flow of

electrons

That electricity then fuels the battery that

runs the motor. Instead of using a battery,

some solar vehicles direct the power straight

to an electric motor

Solar energy is cost effective.

Solar energy costs nothing.

We can save money which we spend on fuel.

Environmentally friendly.

Low running cost.

Reliability.

It works everywhere.

Solar energy is secure.

Health and safety benefits.

Saves time.

POTENTIAL BENEFITS AND MISSING OPPORTUNITIES

CONCLUSION
