The Investor’s approach on the Environmental aspect

Open minded since Day One

Adaptive and flexible – project relocation from the future Natura 2000

On-site bird monitoring since 2002; migrations, nesting, wintering birds and bats

Designing and testing the right mitigation measures for the specific project

Do we know birds behaviour?

Scientists are trying and learning continually

Wind farms with radars and intensive scientific reserches add value to scientists efforts to discover

Bulgarian Academy of Sciences at 7th International Animal Navigation Conference, UK. Dr Pavel Zehtendjiev on the migrating birds behavior and external factors

Do we know birds behaviour?

We are learning along with the scientists

Does the mitigation measures work?

What happened this year?

On 1st of September the wind started blows form West. The filed ornithologists raised the attention as per the procedure.

On 2nd and 3th we (both human and radar) detected increasing number of migrating white storks. The wind farm was stopped for 18 hours which completely eliminated the risk for the birds.

What we learnt?

Sustainability requires that the Investors, Authorities and Stakeholders are focused on the “right” thing

Investors should ask the experts and stimulate them to talk. Listen!

Design and execute without leaving anything behind

One bird doesn’t make a spring! The Government polices and focus on proper permitting is a prerequisite

Thank you!
