M Venkaiah Naidu wastoday sworn in as the 15th VicePresident of India.

President Ramnath Kovindadministered the oath of office

to Naidu, 68, at a brief ceremo-ny in the Durbar Hall ofRashtrapati Bhawan attended bypolitical leaders cutting acrossparty lines.

Wearing his trademark whitepanche (lungi) and white shirt,

Naidu took oath in Hindi in thename of god.

While he is the 15th VicePresident, he is the 13th personto hold the Constitutional post.His predecessor Hamid Ansariand the first Vice President S

Radhakrishnan had held the postfor two consecutive terms.
