What is Web 2.0?

Blogs organize your information chronologically Your posts appear from oldest to newest When you think ‘Blogs,’ think ‘time’

However, they have other properties Posts (small, frequent updates) Pages (permanent pages, like a website) Tags (attached to pages, organize information) Searchable

What they can do for you: Modern HTML is really hard to learn and

write There are always more bugs to fix, more

features to add Browsers read web pages differently Blogs look the same in every browser, and

come with many templates

With a little finesse, you can turn a blog into a full featured, reliable, beautiful website.

Available for free through Google Wide variety of templates and formats (key!) Useful for: journals, diaries

Cons: A more traditional blog, not as useful for

websites

Available for free, with great FAQ archives Clean, professional templates Easy to create a website using Pages, and to

update using Posts For $20, you can host your own videos (no need

for YouTube), up to 8 gigs of space Useful for: portfolios, photo blogs, and multi-

media Cons:

When features don’t work, the developers say ‘be patient’
