statements that have no place in the lab.• Horse-play will not be tolerated.

• Lack of pre-lab preparation is the main threat to safety in our lab.

• At the beginning of each lab period, you will be given a chance to ask questions.

1. Wear safety glasses/googles

2. Tie back long hair

3. Store chemicals on shelves with label.

4. Keep bags away from burner.

5. Turn off gas when not in use.

6. Light bunsen burner on orange "safety flame.

7. Wash hands after handling chemicals.

8. Keep a fire extinguisher handy.

9. Wipe up spills in laboratory.

10. Keep reactive metals in jars filled with oil.

Indicates that a material is poisonous if inhaled or ingested.

Indicates that a material is corrosive. To prevent contact with the skin, the user must wear PPE.

Indicates biohazardous materials are in the area and are potentially infectious to humans. Sign must be posted in areas & on containers of such materials.

Indicates radioactive materials are located in the area. Similar sign is used for x-ray equipment.
