Speaker, Mr Keon Chee

Rtn Joseph Chia
President Deepak called upon Programmes Chairman, Rtn Joseph Chia to introduce the Guest Speaker, Mr Keon Chee. Rtn Joseph noted that Mr Chee is an estate planning and trust advisor who has advised hundreds of families on their estate, financial and succession needs. He added that the media have interviewed him frequently, which was how he got to know of Mr Chee, whom he heard over the radio and subsequently invited him to speak to the Club.
Mr Chee noted that Singaporeans were living longer than before, and the probability of mental illness increases as we age. He added that this would mean that many would fall into mental incapacity at some point in our lives. He noted the inconvenience to the families whose members fall into mental incapacity, without an LPA (Lasting Power of Attorney), adding that not only do the elderly suffer from
mental incapacity. He spoke of the differences in the LPA Form 1 versus Form 2, as to which would be more suitable. Mr Chee also cautioned members on their choices of donees and the certificate issuer. He further highlighted the responsibilities of the Professional Deputies and Donees (PDD) scheme. To extend the Club’s vote of thanks, President Deepak called on PP Dr Oliver Hennedige. PP Dr Oliver thanked Mr Chee for his interesting and valuable talk and added there was a lot of information to digest as the topic sounded complex. He advised his wife, Irene, recently got her LPA done, and after hearing Mr Chee’s talk, PP Dr Oliver added that he would look into getting his LPA done as well!
Speaker: Mr Keon Chee, Estate & Trust Planning Advisor Kensington Trust
Topic: “It’s Easy to Get the LPA Done – But Be Careful”

The Guide to Daily Living
Before doing the things we want to do, consider first, the
Precepts of the guide. Ask ourselves these 4 questions and
act upon them:
First: Have I spent some time in self-examination?
Second: Have I spent quality time with my family?
Third: Have I given my best to my work?
Fourth: Have I given some time to someone near and far?
The Guide, in fact, encompasses the 4 parts of the Object of Rotary.
The Four-Way Test
Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the truth?
Is it fair to all concerned?
Will it build goodwill and better friendship?
Will it be beneficial to all concerned?
