RESIDENCE LIFE STUDENT STAFF

RA TRAINING BACKGROUND Training starts two weeks prior to the

beginning of the fall semester.

All RAs and PAs are required to attend the two weeks of training.

Training is designed to help the RAs and PAs prepare for any difficulties they may face while in the position.

RA TRAINING BACKGROUND CONT. Training is also a time for the staff to

bond and build relationships within the staff.

The professional Staff design and prepare the training sessions based on what they feel is needed to prepare the RAs and PAs.

MOTIVATION FOR INTRODUCINGONLINE RA TRAINING WITH FACE-TO-FACE TRAINING

Based on evaluations from previous years RAs and PAs felt that two weeks was not enough time for all the material but do not want to spend any extra time on campus during the summer.

The returning students felt that they were given repeat information each year and no enough new material.

Professional staff were overwhelmed with training as well as preparations for the fall semester.

OUTCOMES / OBJECTIVES Use online training to deliver general

information to RAs and PAs during the summer months that does not require face-to-face meetings.

Allow RAs and PAs to interact with each other and professional staff during summer months to build a greater working relationship.

Both student staff and professional staff to feel more prepared for the fall semester.

OUTCOMES / OBJECTIVES CONT.

Online training will cover general information, allowing more details emphasized in face-to-face training.

Student Staff can review material at anytime during the summer or school year and complete work at their own pace but still meeting required deadlines.
