How to use H.E.L.P. to prepare Goals and
Objectives/Benchmarks
At the next screen select the form to be prepared by name
The Forms Menu is arranged in 3 sections: (The way most of us do our work.)
1. The first section on the left side of the screen contains forms that are used to complete an Annual Review
2. The second section in the middle of the screen contain additional forms that may be used for an Initial IEPs, or behavior plans. The new SLD Forms and ISP forms are also found in this section.
3. The third section to the right of the screen contains the additional notifications and consents as well as Batch Print.

How to write Goals & Objectives for a student
• From the Main Menu select the Forms menu bar
• Select
Goals and Objectives/Benchmarks menu bar
At the Control Screen
Select the New icon if you are writing new goals for a student
Note: The drop down (with a white background) will contains the names of all of the students who have been added into Client Intake.
Use the scroll bar to the right of the list to select the student for which you are writing new goals and objectives.
Click on the student’s name and the form will open
How to fill out the Goals & Objectives/Benchmarks Form
The student’s name you selected will appear in a yellow rectangle near the top of the screen
Today’s date will automatically appear in the Date of IEP. While it is highlighted, key in the actual date scheduled for the IEP/Annual Review conference.
Check the data indicating the method progress will be reported to the parent/guardian
You can type in the Current Academic Achievement or you can
Click the button to access the Library of Goals you created in the Z-load Goals/Objectives
An overlay will appear
Click on the down arrow by the word SEARCH to view the Present Level of Performance from the Library of Goals and Objectives in the z-load.
When you have found the Goals and Objectives that most closely match our student, click on the closing Door with the Red Box to extract the goals and objectives into the student’s form
Now you are ready to complete and customize the IEP for this student
Check the type of goal area
Type in the goal number for this student
Click in the State Learning Standard
Click in the Implementer(s)

You can also edit the wording of the goals in this form
When you have finished…
When you have finished completing and editing the IEP click the
PRINT IEP button to print the IEP
Writing Multiple Goals on the Same Student
• Often students require MORE than one type of goal or even multiples of the same goal type.
• For example, a student with deficits in reading may need goals and objectives to improve word attach skills and goals and objectives to improve comprehension skills.
• The student’s needs may require goals for additional curriculum areas such as Reading, Math, Behavior, Speech, Physical Therapy, etc.

If you are already in the form Goals and Objectives Benchmarks return to the top of
the screen and select the New icon.

The overlay allows you to access your goal bank to locate the additionally needed goals

begin to access the type of additional goal that is needed from the goal bank.

When you have located the goal that is needed click the closing door with the red box around it.

Note: It may be necessary to use the scroll bar on the right side of the screen to scroll up to locate the door with the red box around it.

When the door with the red box is clicked the Goals and Objectives that were selected are extracted into the student’s form.
Continue to fill in the other areas of the form and edit the content.
In the field Goal Number, key in both the type of goal and goal number. For example: Reading 1 or Math 2.

Remember: Students may need more than one Math, Reading, etc. and/or related service goal pages. Identify goals using area and number, i.e. Math 1, Math 2. It will be easier to update and print all goals for each student at IEP and report time.
You must repeat this process for
each additional goal page.
At Progress Report time you will use H.E.L.P. to update the student’s progress
From the Main Menu select FormsAt the Forms Menu select the form Goals and
Objectives/BenchmarksThe control screen will appear:
The Search Drop down of the names or the student for whom you have previously prepared this form will appear (colored yellow).
Use the scroll bar to the right of the yellow drop down to search for the student. Names are arranged in alphabetical order with SS#, Date of IEP, Goal # and Implementer's name.
Begin working on the right side of the screen and update each Goal &
Objectives/BenchmarkUse the drop down boxes to access data in the z-loads to make the update of the IEP easier
Don’t forget about the “Pink Links”. Click on them to access the z-load to add your customized your report data.
When finished click the Print Progress Report button
