Six Excuses Why Managers Do Not Use Recognition

1. “I don’t know how best to recognize my employees”2. “I don’t feel that providing recognition is an

Recognition Techniques for Immediate Application

• Take a few moments at the end of the day to reflect on who’s performance you’ve noticed. Write them a thank you note.

• When you read your mail, look for positive items to share with others/department heads.

• Greet teachers by name with eye contact. Take a few minutes to see how they are doing. Be sincere (3 personal item rule).

• Take time at the beginning or end of a meeting to share positive news. Ask others to do the same.
