In 1943, the Wartime Farm and Food Policy group published "Putting Dairying on a War Footing", also known as Pamphlet No. 5. This publication caused an uproar at Iowa State because it encouraged the production and consumption of oleo margarine versus butter. The Iowa Experiment Station findings had the potential to severly damage the dairy industry's business. In light of this, a revised version was published. As a result, many key Iowa State figures departed. This document is the original version of the pamphlet that was written by O.H. Brownlee.
