• To operate local, regional and national programmes

• To ensure basic education and health for children in poor & disadvantaged communities.

• To develop the technical capacity of community people to improve their livelihood.

• To ensure balanced environment and to control environmental pollution.

• To promote access to existing public health services.

Goal/Objectives

Communities improved their livelihoods through climate change adaptation and increased resilience to water related threats.

• Specific Objective: 1. Communities improve their well-being and resilience by increasing permanent access to safe drinking water.

• Specific Objective: 2.Improved adaptation to climate change through improved food production in saline land and waters.

Major Component/Activities• Identify best system for access to safe drinking water. • Promote and establish sample and low cost save

drinking water systems (rain water harvesting etc) • Build the capacity of the community to manage and

maintain the drinking water systems. • Support linkages with local government institutions

(Ups---) to support the communities’ plans. • Promotion of saline tolerant crop and related

technologies in particular rice, in collaboration with the public and private sector.

Project activitiesMajor activities carried out

are: • baseline survey of 2700

households, • 492 cluster based

meetings arranged, • distribution of water

reservoirs among 200 families,

• 6 UP based project inception workshop held,

• 7PSFs repaired• 270 sets of sanitary

latrine materials distributed,

• community based one water tank of 30,000 litre constructed,

Project activities• 3 small ponds re-

excavation, • training to 15 local

fisherman• 24 local agriculture

service providers, • 72 local service

providers on water quality tasting.

Recommendation

• PRA• Effective monitoring and coordination with

other stakeholders • DPHE should be more sincere to help such

kind of project.• Make Gender sensetive• Recommendations for more effective

workshop
