RSE Policy....

• Parents/carers have a right to withdraw their child/children form those parts of the Sex Education programme not within the National Curriculum Science Programme of Study

• However, we firmly believe that, in order to support children's ongoing emotional and physical development, children should be taught a comprehensive programme of relationships and sex education

• RSE enhances and is enhanced by learning related topics including anti-bullying; keeping safe on and off line; keeping physically and mentally healthy; and the development of skills and attributes such as communication skills, managing peer pressure, risk management, resilience and decision making

• There is no parental right for parents/carers to withdraw their children from Relationships Education

RSE Policy....

• Parents/carers are encouraged to visit the school to discuss any concerns

• The school can offer parents/carers support in talking to their children about sex education and how to link this with what is being taught in school

• Parents/carers will be informed when RSE will be taught in their child/children's class by email

• If a parent/carer wishes to request that their child/children be removed from Sex Education they must write a letter to Mrs Baughan requesting this

• Children removed from these lesson will be provided with alternative work, linked to the PSHE programme, and be invited to join another class for that session
