FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)Communication to Suppliers
WD CONFIDENTIAL
If we receive request for product environmental compliance documents from a
particular WD site (example: local design group) shall we ignore the request and
wait for the email from Anthesis?
The new work flow is local SQE will notify to PEC SQE for qualification parts, PEC SQE will
notify Anthesis to request supplier reports. Once suppliers have completed their submission, the
ACS database will generate automatic email to the local SQE team to download your completed
reports from the ACS system.
How does the annual renewal of RoHS documents work? Is it on per expiration of
every lab report or will it trigger when all the lab reports expires?
The WD requirement is that each lab report must be renewed before it becomes one year old.
Suppliers should track the dates on their lab reports, and make sure they submit new lab reports
before they are out-of-date. The ACS database will track the renewal date for lab reports and
send suppliers a reminder 30 days before the due date for RoHS, halogen and XRF third party
lab reports.
Can an example be demonstrated of how an existing 1752-2 document get
automatically uploaded?
Yes, the automatic uploading of 1752-2 data can be demonstrated by Anthesis. You can refer to
demonstration material from the training presentation, “Supplier Webinar March 2015.pdf” or feel
free to call one of the 2 telephone numbers on the Help Desk page of the training presentation to
schedule a demonstration. Anthesis is developing a “WD/Anthesis Environmental Compliance
Website” for supplier to watch a training video via website. The website should be ready by 2nd
week of April 2015.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)Communication to Suppliers
WD CONFIDENTIAL
What if you have non-conformities? How can we handle those?
For non-conformities wherein the material or component do not comply with WD 001669
spec: Suppliers are required to ensure that process, material and internal procedures meet
WD ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATION FOR MATERIALS, COMPONENTS AND
PRODUCTS 2096-001669 (latest revision).
For non-conformities wherein the lab reports or WDCDC submissions are incomplete or if
they have errors, Anthesis will send out an email message summarizing the errors found
and suppliers must respond back with corrected and/or completed submissions of lab
reports and WDCDC
Also, as this procedure is getting implemented, do we have to submit results
for ALL the existing programs? if so by when?
This new PEC procedure and spec. revision have already been implemented. Suppliers
should review the spec. and ensure all existing parts comply with the latest spec. Suppliers
are required to submit the WDCDC form and lab reports to Anthesis upon request.
Existing data that we've previously submitted - is that being ported by
Anthesis so that we don't have to resubmit in new format?
You may be required to re-submit data on parts you previously provided to WD. This is
because the new process requires data in the industry standard IPC1752A (WDCDC)
format. This industry standard format will allow WD to automatically load your data into the
ACS database and perform automated validation of data. You will receive requests from
Anthesis for any parts that you need to re-submit.

So it means that we need to submit all the new tests to WD? What if we have
tested the phthalates before, do we need to do it again?
Phthalate test reports are only required one time. They do not require annual renewal like
RoHS and halogen. If you already have a phthalate lab report you can submit it to Anthesis.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)Communication to Suppliers
WD CONFIDENTIAL
If the RoHS & HF result on third party lab change, do we need to re-submit
WDCDC of all part number that we submitted previously again?
You do not need to change your WDCDC unless the results of the RoHS or HF lab report
indicate that the material content is different. If you learn from the new 3rd party lab report
that the material content is different, then you must submit a new WDCDC and we will just
record the data in ACS database.
What is PEC?
PEC = Product Environmental Compliance; all suppliers to WD must comply with WD
ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATION FOR MATERIALS, COMPONENTS AND
PRODUCTS 2096-001669 (latest rev), which includes EU RoHS, Reach, Halogen free, etc.
Besides the legislative requirements, WD has also included customer’s requirements that
are more stringent than what is required by law.
What is the Western Digital Compliance Data Collection (WDCDC) form?
Anthesis, as suggested by WD?
The WDCDC is an Excel-based data collection form that WD suppliers will use to declare
full material disclosure (FMD) data for their parts and materials. The WDCDC is compliant
with the IPC-1752A data exchange standard. The information provided by suppliers in the
WDCDC will be used to verify compliance with all WD ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIFICATION
FOR MATERIALS, COMPONENTS AND PRODUCTS 2096-001669 latest revision.
