Appendix
• The University of Arizona estimates the all-inclusive cost of a semester during the
2011/2012 school year for a student living in U of A housing at $11,183. For a Fall or
Spring semester at Orvieto during the same school year they estimate the all-things-
considered cost at $14,850. They estimate the cost of round-trip airfare at $1700,
although it can currently be found for less than $950 – an adjustment of $750 that brings
the all-inclusive cost down to $14,100. The difference between a semester in Tucson and
Orvieto, therefore, amounts to $2917. Consider that the cost of a week-long vacation to
Italy could easily eclipse that amount and that the additional cost secures a semester-
length experience of a lifetime in Italy.
