It’s a world wide problem

PovertyMost of us live in comfort and security, but over one-fifth of the world’s population lives in poverty. Around the world poverty appears when people are not able to achieve the standard of living that is usual for their society. Today, standards of living vary greatly among nations; however, the effects of poverty remain constant: hunger, homelessness, lack of education, and resources to fulfill basic human needs.

What is poverty?Poverty is not only having no money.

For those in developing countries it also is not having the materials and resources to fulfill their basic needs. A person canbe poor when they don’thave access to employment and basic healthcare, Education and essentials like food, clothing and water.

Dictionary’s Definition

• Poverty: The state of having little or no

money or material possession

Our Definition

• Poverty: The lack of basic needs to

survive

• Examples: food, shelter, fresh water, clothing, etc…

• Money is not the only answer

Myths and Misunderstandings

When you hear ‘Poverty’, What do you think of?

• Who?

• Where?

• Why?

Are we right?

This is Poverty…

It’s not fair…

No one can choose the circumstances into which they are born.

• Africa is poor• 30,000 children die everyday from

extreme poverty• 1 child dies every 24 seconds• Nearly a million people entered the 21st

century unable to read a book or sign their name

“ You can’t get rid of poverty by giving people money”

So, if MONEY is NOT the ANSWER…

…WHAT IS?

Empty pockets never held anyone back. Only empty heads and empty

hearts can do that.

So, what can YOU do to HELP?

• DONATE YOUR TIME.• RAISE AWARNESS.• START WITH SOMETHING YOU CAN TACKLE

Examples:– Education– Disease– Food– Fresh water

This is just a brief glimpse at how people live around the world. As we look into the different origins of inequality, I would like you to think about these characters that you have just been introduced to.

For someone.........

Foods depict the luxury.

Not really...........it's a basic need !

Some where, People

know........how to waste foods

(Tomato).

No where but in this

world.........people die of

starvation.

Wasting food..............for more entertainment (pie throwing).

Waiting............to become food.

Standing still: Which one is more amusing ??

As someone eats more than requirement......

Others don't find to eat !

While misusage is a

festival.........

Please!!! Don't waste your foods.

Please!!! Don't eat more than requirement.
