Selec'ngsomeofthetechniquesthatIusedinmysamplingistartedtoproducegarments,exploringhowtheeffectscouldbetranslatedintofashion.Likeallofmysamplesthesegarmentswereembroideredandmanipulatedinwhitefabricbeforebeingdyed.Theywerethenembellishedwithbeadsandsequins.

Displayedalmostasifeachsampleisfloa'ng,myfinalcollec'onoffabricsgivetheviewertheillusionthattheyarepassingthroughacoralreef.Thecolourcombina'onsaremuted,aged,warm;theyoriginallycreatedusingnaturaldyesofOnions,Coffee,Tea.Thedetailsofthesesamplescanbeeasilytranslatedintoarangeofcommercialproductssuitableforbothfashionandinteriors.

InspiredbytheworkofMichaelBrennand-Woodstudentshadtodecoratea2footwoodenbaton.Theydecorateditwithimagesofthethingsthattheylikeandtheirfamily.Usingtheirfavouritecolouredinksandbeadseachs'ckwasindividualtothemakersiden'ty.Thes'ckswerethenassembledtoformaDNAHelixwhichishungintheAcademy’sAtrium.

Inspiredbytheelephantsbeingdecoratedanddisplayedinci'esaroundtheworldtheLangleyAcademydecidedtocreateitsownElephantparade.HavinggainedsponsorshipformDecopatch,France,studentswereeachgivenanelephanttodecorate.TheelephantswerethensoldtoraisemoneyforoneoftheAcademiesHouseChari'esTheElephantFamily.

WorkingwithAr'stinResidenceMichaelBrennand-WoodGiBedandTalentedartstudentshadadaytodecoratea4footcardboardelephant.Usingcollagedpapers,paintandstripsoffabricstudentsdecoratedtheelephantwithsymbolswhichrepresentedthe6AcademyHouses(Aribib,Darwin,Gaia,Globe,GraceandHenley).TheelephantisproudlyondisplayintheAcademiesAtrium.

Workingwithar'stsinResidenceMirandaMillwardstudentscreatedcollageboxesandwrotestoriesaboutMuseumObjectsfromWorldWar1and2.InspiredbytheworkofJosephCornellstudentsfilledtheirboxeswithcollageandimagesoftheobjectsandphotosfrom18thCenturySlough.Thebestboxeswereputondisplayaspartofatouringexhibi'oncalledArtefacts.

AspartoftheCulturalOlympiadstudentsagroupof20studentsfromtheLangleyAcademytookpartintheTreeofLight.Itwasayearlongprocesswhichstartedwithstudentsvisi'ngalocalna'onalparkandcrea'ngartworkinspiredbytheshapesoftreesandplantsandtheworkofAndyGoldsworthy.BetweenJanuaryandtheperformanceinJulystudentsa^endedweeklyrehearsalstolearnthehourlongperformancewhichtoldthelifecycleoftrees.Followingaweekendofrehearsalsthestudentsperformedwithanother1000dancersandmusiciansfromacrosstheThamesValleyinanexplosivetheatricalperformanceoutside.

AsAr's'cDirectorIdesignedandmadeallthesetandcostumesfortheWholeSchoolProduc'onofWeWillRockYou.TheBohemiancostumeswereconstructedfromreconstructedgarmentsbroughtfromlocalcharityshops.TheGAGAGirlscostumeswerehandmadewithMachineEmbroideredGAGAlogoswhichglowedinthedark.Itwasthefirstmajorproduc'onperformedattheAcademyandwasahugesuccess.

TheAcademyenteredtheannualcompe''on‘Connec'ons’runbyTheLyric,Hammersmith,withaperformanceof‘Don’tFeedtheAnimals’.Asastoryaboutatravelingcircusthechallengeoftheproduc'onwasturningourtheatreintoacircustent.Thiswasachievedbyhanginglengthsofstripedfabricfromtheligh'ngrigsandaroundtheoutsideofthetheatre.CostumesfortheclownswerebroughtonlineandtheUVanimalcostumesandpaperdressweremadebymyself.
