Pell Grants :

These federal grants, for low-income students, are not to be paid back.

Were formerly known as Basic Educational Opportunity Grants (BEOGs).

Know More About Pell Grants

Named after Democratic U.S Senator Claiborne Pell.

Given to under-graduate students to earn their first degree.

Grants range from $555 to $5550 with an average award of $3,800.

Pell Grants is dependent on:

The student’s financial situation,

The cost of the school,

The student’s enrollment status (fulltime or part-time),

The length of attendance (full year or less).

Qualification for Pell Grants:

A student needs to submit the Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to learn their expected family’s contribution (EFC)

A student with low EFC will qualify for Pell Grants.

How To Apply:

After filing a FAFSA, the student receives a Student Aid Report (SAR).

This SAR contains the details about the student’s EFC.

Further, the funds are credited to the student’s school account or given in the form of a check.

Things to Know About Pell Grants :

Pell grants are awarded through the participating institutions to the students.

Nearly $36 billion of grant aid is available for qualifying students.
