Hereditary spherocytosis blood smear.

Sphere shape allow a much smaller surface area to volume ratio than biconcave shape

Scanning electron micrograph of a normal biconcave erythrocyte

Scanning electron micrograph of a spherocyte. The spherocyte is smaller, round, and lacks concavities

Sickle RBCs

A.Peripheral blood smear from a patient with sickle cell anemia.showing sickle cells, anisocytosis, poikilocytosis, & target cells .B , Higher magnification shows an

irreversibly sickled cell

Target cells

Target cells(arrows) anisocytosis poikilocytosis.

Peripheral blood smear (Heinz bodies) revealed by supravital staining.

"bite cells".

PCV

Polycythemia –blood film

PCV-bone marrow

ALL-Lymphoblasts have fewer nucleoli than do myeloblasts, and the nuclear chromatin is more condensed.

Cytoplasmic granules are absent

AML-Myeloblasts have delicate nuclear chromatin, prominent nucleoli, and

fine azurophilic granules in the cytoplasm (arrows).

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) blood smear.

ALL-L3

ALL- bone marrow aspirate.

AML-Auer rods

AML-bone marrow

Acute promyelocytic leukemia (FAB AML-M3) blood smear. Note the

cytoplasmic granules in the cell at the top and the multiple Auer rods in the cell at the bottom.

AML-M3 bone marrow

CML-Peripheral blood smear shows many mature neutrophils, some

metamyelocytes, and a myelocyte and a myeloblast.

CLL-blood smear Lymphocytosis of small mature-appearing lymphocytes. Numerous “smudge” cells are present.

. CLL

Condensed “soccer ball” nuclear chromatin; one “smudge cell” is present.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, medium power.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, high power.

Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, high power.

Follicular lymphoma

Follicular lymphoma

Small Lymphocytic Lymphoma

MALT lymphoma

Burkitt’s Lymphoma “starry sky” appearance.

Hodgkin’s lymphoma RS cell

Hodgkin disease, lymphocyte-predominance type. Numerous mature-looking lymphocytes surround scattered, large, pale-staining lymphocytic

and histiocytic variants ("popcorn" cells).

Hodgkin lymphoma, nodular sclerosis type. A low-power view shows well-defined

bands of pink, acellular collagen that have subdivided the tumor cells into nodules

Hodgkin lymphoma, nodular sclerosis type. A distinctive "lacunar cell" with multilobed nucleus containing many small nucleoli is seen lying within a clear space created by retraction of its

cytoplasm. It is surrounded by lymphocytes.

Hodgkin disease, mixed-cellularity type. A diagnostic, binucleate Reed-Sternberg cell is surrounded by multiple cell types, including eosinophils (bright-red cytoplasm), lymphocytes,

and histiocytes.

Multiple Myeloma

Multiple myeloma blood smear. Rouleaux formation.

Multiple myeloma bone marrow aspirate. Numerous plasma cells, many of

which have prominent nucleoli (normal plasma cells lack nucleoli), are present
