What issues concerning, class, identity educational attainment do we hear in Muhammed’s story?

Case Study 1.

I am Samantha; I am one of those “low-income students.” Not poor – we always have plenty to eat and toys at Christmas and decent, if shabby, cars to get around in – but not comfortably middle-class either.

What issues concerning, class, identity educational attainment do we hear in Sharon’s story?

Case Study 2

My discussion section is admittedly imbalanced. When I pose a question to the class, Ethan jumps in right away with a thoughtful response. He’s really a great student, and others in the classroom look to him to move our discussion forward.

Case Study 3

My Engineering class will spend the next few weeks examining how socioeconomic status, finances and political power affects engineering solutions in the U.S. In the past some students have been insensitive to the challenges faced by individuals from lower socioeconomic status. This discussion is always tense. Some of my students are from families with less, although most are not.

Office of Student Enrichment

Our programs allow students to participate in developmental opportunities, foster a sense of shared learning and community, and pursue opportunities for personal growth. Our goal is to provide access to all things that make student life the tie that binds the Notre Dame community together. The Office of Student Enrichment aims to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment so that every new generation of the Fighting Irish finds a home and flourishes at Notre Dame.
