Forty miles of cross country ski trails weave through theimmediate Watersmeet area. Fifteen miles of these trails aregroomed by Sylvania Outfitters, Inc. by permit with the OttawaNational Forest. Motorized grooming is not permitted in theSylvania Wilderness, but skiers alone keep these trails tracked.Peace and solitude are the result. Skiers throughout theMidwest are attracted to these natural wilderness trails.

Historically, Watersmeet was the railroad hub for theUpper Peninsula. Now it is the snowmobiling hub connectingevery town in the western U.P. with trails in northernWisconsin. Abandoned railroad beds are now snowmobile andATV trails. Our local snowmobile club, The U.P. ThunderRiders does a wonderful job of maintaining our vastsnowmobile trail system.

With snow covering the ground here from November untilApril, winter sports enthusiasts love our magnificent winters.Located about an hour’s drive from several downhill ski hills,we have it all! Snowmobile, ice fish, ski, snowshoe, sled,sightsee, or just relax. Do a little or do a lot. Cisco Chain of LakesThe famous Cisco Chain of Lakes has 15 interconnected lakeswith over 270 miles of scenic shoreline. Three of those lakesborder both Michigan and Wisconsin. We invite you to comeenjoy the beautiful scenery and excellent fishing and boating.The Cisco Chain and other area lakes provide great fishing forwalleye, northern, silver and tiger musky, smallmouth andlargemouth bass, trout, cisco, and a variety of panfish includingbluegill, perch and crappie. Thousand Island Lake produced thestate record silver musky. Wildlife abounds on this peacefulchain. Fabulous summer scenery, spectacular fall colors,awesome snowfalls, and spring’s awakening of the northwoodswill bring you back time after time. Ottawa National ForestWatersmeet is located in the center of the Ottawa NationalForest. Opportunities for camping, hiking, canoeing, fishingand hunting are unlimited.
