OKTOBERFEST-2012

World’s Biggest Beer Party

Oktoberfest is the world’s largest beer party drawing about six million visitors a year to Southern Germany. This year’s event marked the 179th year of celebration. The sixteen-day festival started on September 22nd at the Munich’s fairgrounds, came to an end on 7th October 2012

The festival, an important part of

Bavarian culture, was started as a horse race to celebrate the royal

wedding of King Ludwig I's in 1800’s. Everyone apparently

enjoyed the drinking a lot than the horse

The traditional clothing is also a real eye-catcher of the festival. Practically anything goes, but guys wear leather pants, leather shorts with suspenders, women wear "Dirndl", a dress with floral patterns and a deep cleavage. The outfits cost around €100 to €120. You can even dress up like a traditional German and enjoy the allure of the festival.
