Even the Ener-gizer Bunny eventually comesto a stop when his batteries fi-nally run down, and we do, too.Our faith keeps us going whenour batteries run low. Jesus asksus to pray and not lose heart.Sometimes things seem to begoing against us, but Jesusnever leaves us to face our trialsalone. He is with each of us. Hehas not turned His back, but ishelping you persevere. Keepyour faith. Perseverance helpsyou see God’s grace.

To know Christ is to know adeep fellowship and the powerof resurrection to follow Himeven into suffering. Unity in theLORD brings joy. Always re-member we are saved by gracenot works. Works are a result ofour joy in the LORD.

We celebrated Communionthis morning. Jesus to eat thebread and drink the cup whichare His body which was brokenfor us and His blood given fora new covenant. He said asoften as you do this do it in re-membrance of me.

TRUMAN MCALPIN

Truman “Mac” McAlpin, ofCrocker, was born on April 11,1946 at Memphis, Tennessee, a sonof Vestus and Lucy (Doyle)McAlpin and departed this life Fri-day, October 18, 2019 at his resi-dence. Mac had attained the age of73 years, six months and sevendays.

Mr. McAlpin was united in mar-riage on December 16, 1994, atHawkeye to Marilyn Jean Wall. Hewas preceded in death by his par-ents, Vestus and Lucy McAlpin;two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. McAlpin was a retiredUnited States Army veteran, retir-

ing at the rank of Staff Sergeant.During his military career he wasawarded and entitled to wear theNational Defense Service Medal;Army Commendation Medal;Army Good Conduct Medal; Non-commissioned Officer ProfessionalDevelopment Ribbon; Army Serv-ice Ribbon; Overseas Ribbon;Drivers Badge and the MarksmanQualification Badge M16. Follow-ing his military career, he hadworked at Fort Leonard Wood andwas a member of the Veterans ofForeign Wars Post 4956, Crocker.

Those left to mourn the passingof Mr. McAlpin include his wife:Marilyn McAlpin, Crocker; oneson: Michael McAlpin, of Ten-nessee; one step-son: Mark (Amy)Fancher, Crocker; one daughter:Wanda Kay (Roger) King of Ten-nessee; one step-daughter: Jeanne(James) Mason, Crocker; twograndchildren; five step-grandchil-dren; and many other relatives andfriends.

Funeral services were held forMr. McAlpin at 11:00 a.m.,Wednesday, October 23, 2019 inthe Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapelwith Pastor Robin Salsman, FirstBaptist Church, Crocker officiat-ing.

Interment with full military hon-ors were held in the Iberia CityCemetery under the direction of theLong-Kloeppel Funeral Home andCremation Services, Crocker.United States Army personnelserved as pallbearers for Mr.McAlpin.

Memorial contributions are sug-gested per the wishes of the familyin memory of Mr. Truman “Mac”McAlpin with envelopes availableat the office of the Long-KloeppelFuneral Home and Cremation Serv-ices, Crocker.

A soldier wrote his dad from acombat zone in a war-torn country. Inthe upper left hand corner under hisname he wrote, “Not Here for VeryLong.”

True of the soldier - true of each ofus. Life at its longest is very short inlight of eternity. Wisely Moses ad-vised us to go to God and ask Him to:“Teach us to number our days aright,that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Time has no favorites. We are eachgiven twenty-four hours a day, sevendays a week and fifty-two weeks ayear. It does not matter who we areor what God has called us to do, noneof us can add one second of time toour lives once God has called ushome. We must guard our time anduse it wisely to honor and glorifyHim.

Time can be used to influence oth-ers - one way or another. It would beinteresting to keep a record of ourtime as an accountant does money -what we spent and how we investedit. We could see what we did with ourtime and discover whether or not wehelped or hindered others, led themcloser to God or drove them fromHim.

Time gives us opportunities toserve the Lord. Jesus said, “All of usmust quickly carry out the tasks as-signed by the One who sent Me andthere is little time left before nightfalls and all our works come to anend.”

Time ends with an interview. Eachof us will stand before God one dayand have an opportunity to reviewour record with Him. What will mat-ter most is whether or not there willbe a day when we surrendered ourlife to Him.
