SHEPPARD BAPTIST CHURCH What a wonderful Sunday worshipping the Lord at Shep- pard Baptist Church! We wel- come you to Sheppard Baptist Church. We are located on Hwy 28 on the right side before GasHopper gas station as you go towards the St. Roberts area. Our worship times are as fol- low: Sunday School begins at 10:00 a.m., Sunday morning worship at 11:00 a.m., Sunday evening worship 6:00 p.m. and Wednesday night fellowship at 7. If you are unable to join us, please check out our live ser- mon messages on Facebook or check out our podcast on Spo- tify, Apple podcast or on Pod- castbean. We invite you to join us for our Fall Bible Conference No- vember 13th through 15th at 5:30 p.m.! There will be a meal provided and services to follow after. Our message comes from Philippians 4:21-23. We are re- minded as Christian to greet others. The Church of Philippi was encouraged by Paul to greet each other and be unified with one heart and mind fo- cused on Christ. We are encour- aged to be a unified body of Christ. Fall in love with the people of the Lord and share the message with other people. Use Paul’s letter to share the grace of God. Paul is encourag- ing the Philippians with grace of God. Grace is a work of God alone. Biblical grace is the favor of God given to whomever God gives it to. God freely gives salvation and his grace to people. Grace comes from Jesus alone. Grace causes Christians to persevere. Grace alone is the only way, we are able to receive Christ’s salva- tion. We deserve punishment and death, but Christ offers His grace to us. Are you changed by grace or are you just playing re- ligious? Grace can transform everyone. God is the author of grace. Be encourage that the Lord is preserving His children. God is working for those who love Him and serving him. Dif- ficulties and obstacles may come, but joy is in the Lord. You are not alone, Christian! Believers in Christ are with you as well as Christ himself. Be encouraged the Lord can help us with your anxiety and Christ will give you peace. You can endure all situations through Christ. God will supply all your needs. God can give you strength and you can do all things. Be encouraged! FREEDOM CHURCH Today’s music worship in- cluded the Hymn “I Have De- cided to Follow Jesus.” Have you decided to follow Jesus? Prayer was made for those who are having surgery, are ill, and those who are traveling. Pastor’s message was based on Philippians 3:1-11. In verses church home come down and visit us. Sunday School starts at 10:00 a.m.: Church service at 11:00 a.m.: Sunday evening at 6:00 p.m. FIRST CHRISTIAN CHURCH We here at First Christian Church would like to invite you to worship with us. We have a very warm, welcoming place of worship, and would love to have you visit our church fam- ily. Sunday School begins at 9:30 a.m.; Worship service be- gins at 10:30 a.m. Join us on our walk of faith. We had a guest speaker, Lina Eddy, during our morning serv- ice. We had prayer time, and we remembered George and Willa Dake, Phyllis Dake Smith, Sherry Heltz, Kirk Carson, Wilma Greenlee, and Harry Gray. Travel mercies to our folks on the road. Praises were given for Harry Gray, Wilma Greenlee, wonderful class re- unions, and for the safe arrival of a baby girl to one of our wor- shipers. The scripture today was taken from Luke 18:1-8. The sermon thought was about “Perseverance.” We need to keep the faith! Even the Ener- gizer Bunny eventually comes to a stop when his batteries fi- nally run down, and we do, too. Our faith keeps us going when our batteries run low. Jesus asks us to pray and not lose heart. Sometimes things seem to be going against us, but Jesus never leaves us to face our trials alone. He is with each of us. He has not turned His back, but is helping you persevere. Keep your faith. Perseverance helps you see God’s grace. SEATON FAITH FELLOWSHIP CHURCH Seaton Church Family prays that you had a Blessed Day. The Lord has been so good to Seaton Church that it is hard not to say that each day is Blessed. The Pastor ministered the Word this morning on the subject of Sanctification. Sanc- tification is an on going process, coming after Justifica- tion. It is a progressive Work, it is a Work with Purpose and we gain Sanctification thru our Faith in Jesus Christ and being willing to allow the Holy Spirit Work in our lives. This Work touches every area of the whole person (Spirit, soul, and body), as well as impacts our everyday life. The Purpose is that a Saint might mature in Christ. Chuck and Deb Barber celebrated their 46th Anniversary today. Chuck sang to his wife, "You're my Best Friend." Congratulations to both of you. Please remember to bring Socks for the Veteran Sock Drop. The socks collected will be donated to the St. James Vet- eran's Home. Also, Candy for the Hallelujah night on October 31st, to be given out on Dixon 3-14 Paul gives a quick auto bi- ography. We know Paul from his epistles and from Luke’s ac- count of his conversion and dis- cipleship. The church of Philippi was one of Paul’s fa- vorite churches. To know Christ is to know a deep fellowship and the power of resurrection to follow Him even into suffering. Unity in the LORD brings joy. Always re- member we are saved by grace not works. Works are a result of our joy in the LORD. We celebrated Communion this morning. Jesus to eat the bread and drink the cup which are His body which was broken for us and His blood given for a new covenant. He said as often as you do this do it in re- membrance of me. Our worship services are held each Sunday morning at 11:00 a.m. We also hold a Bible study each Wednesday, except for the 4th Wednesday of the month, at 6:30 p.m. We are located at 105 W. 2nd St. between the Maries County Bank and Tri-County Hardware. Come share the joy of the LORD with us. #43-1tc Brought home by God and finally at peace. Lovingly remembered, Marlene In Memory Of Melissa Kay "Mel " Merrill July 2, 1988 to October 3, 2019 #43-1tc TRUMAN MCALPIN Truman “Mac” McAlpin, of Crocker, was born on April 11, 1946 at Memphis, Tennessee, a son of Vestus and Lucy (Doyle) McAlpin and departed this life Fri- day, October 18, 2019 at his resi- dence. Mac had attained the age of 73 years, six months and seven days. Mr. McAlpin was united in mar- riage on December 16, 1994, at Hawkeye to Marilyn Jean Wall. He was preceded in death by his par- ents, Vestus and Lucy McAlpin; two brothers and two sisters. Mr. McAlpin was a retired United States Army veteran, retir- ing at the rank of Staff Sergeant. During his military career he was awarded and entitled to wear the National Defense Service Medal; Army Commendation Medal; Army Good Conduct Medal; Non- commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon; Army Serv- ice Ribbon; Overseas Ribbon; Drivers Badge and the Marksman Qualification Badge M16. Follow- ing his military career, he had worked at Fort Leonard Wood and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4956, Crocker. Those left to mourn the passing of Mr. McAlpin include his wife: Marilyn McAlpin, Crocker; one son: Michael McAlpin, of Ten- nessee; one step-son: Mark (Amy) Fancher, Crocker; one daughter: Wanda Kay (Roger) King of Ten- nessee; one step-daughter: Jeanne (James) Mason, Crocker; two grandchildren; five step-grandchil- dren; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held for Mr. McAlpin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 23, 2019 in the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Chapel with Pastor Robin Salsman, First Baptist Church, Crocker officiat- ing. Interment with full military hon- ors were held in the Iberia City Cemetery under the direction of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Crocker. United States Army personnel served as pallbearers for Mr. McAlpin. Memorial contributions are sug- gested per the wishes of the family in memory of Mr. Truman “Mac” McAlpin with envelopes available at the office of the Long-Kloeppel Funeral Home and Cremation Serv- ices, Crocker. A soldier wrote his dad from a combat zone in a war-torn country. In the upper left hand corner under his name he wrote, “Not Here for Very Long.” True of the soldier - true of each of us. Life at its longest is very short in light of eternity. Wisely Moses ad- vised us to go to God and ask Him to: “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.” Time has no favorites. We are each given twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and fifty-two weeks a year. It does not matter who we are or what God has called us to do, none of us can add one second of time to our lives once God has called us home. We must guard our time and use it wisely to honor and glorify Him. Time can be used to influence oth- ers - one way or another. It would be interesting to keep a record of our time as an accountant does money - what we spent and how we invested it. We could see what we did with our time and discover whether or not we helped or hindered others, led them closer to God or drove them from Him. Time gives us opportunities to serve the Lord. Jesus said, “All of us must quickly carry out the tasks as- signed by the One who sent Me and there is little time left before night falls and all our works come to an end.” Time ends with an interview. Each of us will stand before God one day and have an opportunity to review our record with Him. What will mat- ter most is whether or not there will be a day when we surrendered our life to Him.

A soldier wrote his dad from acombat zone in a war-torn country. Inthe upper left hand corner under hisname he wrote, “Not Here for VeryLong.”

True of the soldier - true of each ofus. Life at its longest is very short inlight of eternity. Wisely Moses ad-vised us to go to God and ask Him to:“Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”

Time has no favorites. We are eachgiven twenty-four hours a day, sevendays a week and fifty-two weeks ayear. It does not matter who we areor what God has called us to do, noneof us can add one second of time toour lives once God has called ushome. We must guard our time anduse it wisely to honor and glorifyHim.

Time can be used to influence oth-ers - one way or another. It would beinteresting to keep a record of ourtime as an accountant does money -what we spent and how we investedit. We could see what we did with ourtime and discover whether or not wehelped or hindered others, led themcloser to God or drove them fromHim.

Time gives us opportunities toserve the Lord. Jesus said, “All of usmust quickly carry out the tasks as-signed by the One who sent Me andthere is little time left before nightfalls and all our works come to anend.”

Time ends with an interview. Eachof us will stand before God one dayand have an opportunity to reviewour record with Him. What will mat-ter most is whether or not there willbe a day when we surrendered ourlife to Him.
