Tab VI – External Reviewers
Need two external reviewers ESSENTIAL component of the promotion process
Regional director or supervisor, in consultation with the candidate, will identify the reviewers (Appendix E, F, and G).
Reviewer may be internal, part of the University System, or external professional from other universities or agencies who have collaborated with the candidate.

Reviewer must comment: How you know the candidate Candidate’s academic work (merits) Reputation and relative standing in their field What difference their work has made
Need to be specific (quantitative) Do not use generalizations

When selecting reviewers: Avoid former mentors or officemates
Reviewer needs to be somebody who can be objective (unbiased)
Reviewer should comment on the candidates academic contributions only

Nov. 1 Candidate provided 3 paper copies and an electronic copy via SharePoint
of dossier to supervisor.Dec. 1 Supervisors and Regional
Directors submit letters of recommendation and
completed dossier packets to the NTT Committee.
Timeline
Jan. 15 The chair of the NTT committee provides the Vice Provost with written notice of the committee’s vote and recommendation (withdrawal/appeal).
June 1 The Vice Provost forwards the candidate’s dossier and the recommendation to the Provost.
Aug. 1 Provost completes review.Sept. 1 If approved by Provost, candidate’s
promotion becomes effective.
