Evolving Technology
Evolving Profession
MESSAGE FROM CHAIRMAN
Dear members,
We have our ASM/AGM suc-
cessfully held on 18 August
with ~ 90 registrants and
around 60 of them joined our
annual dinner.
For AGM this year we have
focus on constitution amend-
ments that clearly define the
criteria for membership. We
also change the amount of
annual fee from a fixed
amount of HK$150 to a range
of zero up to HK$500, which
will give more flexibility.
For Professional Indemnity
Insurance, as some members
reflect that HA already had a
certain coverage, we ask the
Insurer to give us more op-
tions by giving us another
plan which may reduce the
duplication of coverage.
We will celebrate our World
Radiography Day (WRD) to-
gether with the PolyU stu-
dents this year. Student Am-
bassador of Radiography
(SAR) is a student organiza-
tion that arranges all the ac-
tivities and we will again pro-
mote the understanding of
radiography to Public through
these activities. A poster of
RD designed by ISRRT and
some labels will be distribut-
ed to the radiographers.
The upcoming mega event of
HKRRTC is confirmed to be
hosted in Academy of Medi-
cine on mid June 2019. You
are invited to submit result of
studies or any specific infor-
mation that can improve our
knowledge. The theme this
year is “Evolving Profession
in the Digital World”.
Thanks for continuous sup-
port and your comments are
always welcomed.

What’s New
It is 8 Nov every year
the World Radiography
Day (WRD) when Prof.
Wilhelm Conrad Rönt-
gen discovered X-ray
at his laboratory on
the same day in 1895.
This year we have the
theme from ISSRT
“Precision & Compas-
sion” for the WRD. A
group of PolyU stu-
dents also prepared
some publicity cam-
paigns at the PolyU on
this day. Let’s cele-
brate and join the ac-
tivities on the WRD.
CELEBRATING THE
WORLD RADIOGRAPHY DAY

ARE YOU PREPARED FOR THE EVEVOLVING WORLD?
The field Radiography nowadays is completely different from 1895 when Prof.
Röntgen discovered X-Ray. There were evolutionary advancement on imaging
technology: Digital Subtraction technology, sophisticated algorithm for CT scan,
application of nuclear magnetic resonance to the imaging world, increasing the
power of X-ray for removing neoplastic tissue as well as introduction of various
pharmaceuticals for imaging and therapeutic purposes. All these had bought new
pictures to the profession and also new roles to Radiographers and Radiation
Therapists. In this rapidly changing world, the technology-based profession is al-
so changing rapidly. We, the professionals, need to surf with the wave of technol-
ogy. In the new year, we will connect with other professional bodies all over the
world and see what would be the way the profession is directing to and how pro-
fessionals work with new roles.

had negotiated with insurance agen-

demnity Insurance for HKRA mem-
bers. The tailor-made proposal for
radiographers will offer a limit of lia-
bility of HKD 1,000,000 for any one
claim and in aggregate inclusive of
legal cost and expenses. You may
contact the agents for enquiring the
details.
ASM & AGM 2018
The ASM & AGM of this year was successfully held on 18 Aug. The amend-
ment of HKRA constitution was passed by members in AGM. The major
changes include a more flexible arrangement on membership fee and also
the pre-requisite for joining the HKRA as member. Details of the changes
had been delivered to members by email before AGM.
