• Children enrolled in Medicaid are far less likely than their privately-insuredcounterparts to: 

 – have access to and utilize dental services – have a “dental home” 

 – receive comprehensive follow-up care if screened

• Only 2030% of children enrolled inMedicaid receive any dental care in ayear

• Covers 200,000 of Michigan’s 900,000children enrolled in Medicaid

• Public/Private partnership between theMDCH, Delta Dental, and the Michigan

Dental Association

•  Annual cost is approx. $35 million

•  Administered by the Delta Dentalof Michigan

• Dentists paid Delta Dental PPO fees

• Standard claims administration (sameas for all other Delta Dental patients)

• High level of dentist satisfaction

 – 79% of Michigan dentists participate
