A 1974 Norton 850 SC Commando with 13,669 original miles. A series of tasteful custom features adore this won-derful street bike. They include the following; Competition Fairing, Full instrumentation Package, Wickedly Beautiful Black Paint, Corbin Gun Fighter Seat, Carry On Tool Kit, Light Weight Front Fender, Back Dated & Vented Front Drum Brake, Custom Oil Lines, Twin Oil Coolers and the incredibly Rare Drouin Super Charger with Fuel Injection. A supercharger is generally belt-driven off the crankshaft and works as an air pump to cram more fuel/air mixture

into the

engine than would be available at normal atmospheric pressure.

The Drouin unit, Slide Throttle Fuel Injection unit and the Instrument Package were after market items that could have been purchased in the 1970's, through the Norton dealer. The Drouin Super Charger and the Slide Throttle Fuel Injection unit are fully operational and produce amazing and quick 100 HP. The Fuel Injected Slide Throttle system was the very last iteration of the Drouin Super Charged series intake systems, therefore, being the most advanced and powerful.

Upon riding this custom Norton there is sense of amaze-ment in the additional torque and power that comes from the bike. It runs properly and smoothly. The shifting is pre-cise and positive. The brakes are quite ample in bringing this bike to a halt. The fuel tank interior has been cleaned and sealed. Simply open the twin fuel pit cocks to allow fuel to siphon to the fuel Infection unit, turn the key, give it a healthy twist of the duel activated throttle and she fires up on the

second pump with a deep drum like sound and a faint whine of the Super Charger. Hang on and simply smile! She shuts down in standard fashion, with a flip of the key and twisting the fuel pit cocks off. This Norton 850 SC was shown recently at the prestigious "Riding Into History" Motorcycle show in May and was judged as a first runner up in the all Norton class, next to a very well known, twin engine Bonneville Norton.

Faster! Faster! Supercharged and Fuel Injected

Martin has been hired by Obama's government spies and may be listening from afar!

There are some special rules for the English Conclave. Entering your Norton in the show earns 2 extra

points and winning a ribbon earns 2 more points. For hauling the EZ-UP and manning the club booth,

Bob Ohman earns “Host” points. For hauling and selling swag, Jim & Marti Fisher earn full points as

well. I give our members “Rode Something Lesser” points for entering something other than a Norton in

the show, whether or not they rode it to the event.

Bike Show in Toole, Utah James Lafler

Here are pictures taken by Jeff, Ray and I on our ride to Tooele, UT/ Miller

Motorsports Park / Bonneville Vintage GP over Labor Day weekend. We

hit no adverse weather and no malfunctions with our machines for 1300

miles. Many incredible vintage race bikes, races and vintage show. Norton

was the featured marquee this year. Since we rode in (I on HD) we paid no entrance fee and also got to ride

the 2 mile road course for 3 laps what a gas. Hopefully they will continue this event for many years to

come. Incredible facility!

Ron Pierce has been checking out the bike scene in Brooklyn, NY. He’s finding some interesting machines

parked on the streets, probably due to the high cost of garage space. He also reports seeing a restored

‘57 Chevy on the street as well, imagine that.

Ron didn’t find this beauty on the

streets of Brooklyn.

Food on an Irish Airline... Airborne approximately

thirty minutes on an outbound evening flight from

Dublin, the lead flight attendant for the Aer Lingus

cabin crew nervously made the following painful

announcement… "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm so very

sorry, but it appears that there has been a terrible mix-up, just minutes prior to takeoff, by our airport catering service. I don't know how this has happened, but we have 103 passengers on board and, unfortunately, only 40 dinner meals were delivered to the plane. I truly apologize for this mistake and

inconvenience." When passengers' muttering had

died down, she continued… "Anyone who would be

kind enough to give up their meal so that someone else can eat will receive free, unlimited drinks for the

duration of our 5-hour flight." Her next announcement

came 90 minutes later... "If anyone would like to

change their minds, we still have 40 dinners

available."

This most recent development in carburetors may spell the end to fuel injection :

Western Slope Riders

Many Norton Colorado members live in the western part of the state, and finally have noticed that it’s I inconvenient to ride 500 miles for High Tea on the Front Range. Said members have formed a loose

confederation known as the Western Slope Riders, and are having their own High Tea and other fun times.

All Norton Colorado members are welcome at these Western Slope events, so if you city kids want to find out what the shoe feels like on the other foot, plan to ride out and join the Western Slope contingent.
